Hood release cable… stupid me

I replaced the cooling fan in my ‘16 today… got everything back together and closed the hood… then realized I didn’t reattach the release cable, ya know - the cable to the lever inside the vehicle?

Yeah - hood is stuck closed… anyone have any tricks to release the hood?!

I think I can remove the two bolts holding the entire latch assembly - that should allow the hood to raise up enough that I can maybe get the cable attached

If I can’t then I will be using many many inappropriate words while I fight to get the assembly reattached

but it’s where I am - unless I get lucky with a coat hanger
