Hey guys, just wanted to share with yall my roof rack that I made to look like the ARB Touring Style roof rack. I haven't yet wired the lights or secured the roof rack to the existing rails, but this is the finished product...
The frame is made of 1" conduit and the bottom is made with 1/2". It was the best metal to use since it doesn't rust and it's lightweight. I was afraid it might not be sturdy or be able to hold a lot of weight but boy was I wrong!
Yeah, I used 3/4 electrical conduit for mine and thought that it might have been a little weak, but once you weld the cross pieces it becomes very strong. Mine is strong enough that I can stand on my wheel and grab my rack and hang from it putting all my weight on it and it doesn't budge.
You must be a very good welder. The conduit can be hard to weld with all those toxic zinc fumes bubbling up. Looks like a really nice job, and looks great o the Patriot as well.:smiley_thumbs_up:
