I posted these pictures in another post, but thought I would post them as a separate post for those wishing to fit HID headlights and not have any DRL problems.
When I fitted my HID headlights to my 2011 Jeep Patriot and started the car, the HID high beam came on as my reduced voltage DRL ; to solve that problem I had to turn on my low beams; otherwise I would be blinding oncoming cars during the daytime with my DRLs.
To solve the HID DRL headlight problem I fitted a DPDT relay JQX-12F-2Z normally open relay (order off Amazon or online) and a 40 amp normally open relay (any auto parts shop), wired as shown in the wiring diagram. The main key with this setup is to find the fuse in the fuse box that gives 12v when the ignition key is turned on and also a 12v supply from the steering column that is switched on with the headlight stalk switch.
Note: with this setup you will have DRLs as soon as you switch on the ignition key, but will not have the ability to flash anyone with your high beam headlights, unless you turn on your low beams; then the DRLs will go off and you will have access to high beams.
My car picture shows I have the Morimoto X DRL 5 as DRLs, Morimoto H1 HID projector headlights and two pair of the same projectors for fog and extra night driving lights, on their own separate rocker switches on the dash panel; I fitted the extra projector lights into a 3 inch piece of ABS piping, made a flat plate bracket screwed to the bumper and a large 31/2 inch gear clamp to adjust and tighten the lights in place.
I used to do a lot of winter mountain driving and always had to pull over because I could not see in bad weather, with this setup I have tons of light, no matter where I am driving or whatever the weather conditions.
FYI: With my original headlights I used to get flashed all the time, even with just low beams on; with this setup I can run HID low beam headlights and one of the two sets of extra HID driving lights, and have never been flashed; I set the HIDs cutoff at 25 feet from a wall and 2 inches below the center of the headlight or center of the extra HID lights.

To save yourself the hassle of all that wiring, you could use the AppCar FCA program and turn the DRLs off.

Thank goodness I don't have DRL's - threw a relay in and was good to go!
