Hello everyone!

I have a question and a big problem... I was looking for a mygig unit, and I got a new one, but when I installed I forgot to look the serial number and see if was low speed or high speed and... puuuuff!!! was a mygig for a RAM not for a Patriot, so byebye mygig.

So, now I´m looking for a radio with ipod interface (I hate to connect the aux and change the music via-ipod, I want to controll the ipod from my stereo and obviously charge the ipod) so I´m looking for few models like sony or alpine.

A friend told me that I will need another interface for the Jeep, not only install it like my old Liberty, because I will have problems with my computer. In the liberty I installed a sony with ipod interface without a problem, just plugged the harnesses and voila!! but in the newest Chrysler, need something else??? or can I install with the harnesses (plug n play).

My friend told me that interface between the radio and the jeep is $100 or more!!! so, in my libby I spent $150 sony xplod + $20 installation and with my pat $200 radio + $100 computer/canbus interface +$XX installation???

So.....are you trying to keep a stock radio? Because almost every aftermarket unit with a USB input will charge and control ipod/iphone. With just the stock radio, I dont know anything about an add on harness.
My stock radio is the single CD mp3 player with aux... I want to connect my ipod and controll it from the radio, that is why I´m looking for new head unit. I wanted Mygig, but is too expensive and I got one mygig but different canbus speed, and now I´m looking for a aftermarket radio with ipod interface like sony or alpine, but I´m worried about the installation and the issue with the canbus...

Thnx a lot my friend!!! So, I need PAC Adapter, to connect the stereo and canbus... :D

OMG!! that´s the sony that I wanted!!! LOL

Gotcha. Look at Crutchfield.com or call them. They can explain in great detail and their site has all the information you need. I got a JVC kd-A625 head unit and it will charge and control the ipod from the deck itself. I ordered it with the PAC adapter which wires into the canbus and is basically plug and play(there are other ways but this is the easiest). All you have to do is wire in the new stereo's harness with the canbus adapter following the instructions-very easy.

So to answer your question. You can easily put in an aftermarket stereo that will control your ipod/phone from the the stereo itself. If you were looking at the MyGig, I am guessing your budget is decent. There are dozens of options for you to choose from.

Just make sure the head unit you like is compatible with your model of ipod. I like this one from sony and thought about getting it, but I don't have an ipod, so it was pointless for me.
