OK Lower Mainland (Vancouver, BC) owners, it's about bloody time we got together a group of us again on some of our awesome local FSR's.

Canada Day is on a Wednesday, so either people have the whole week off, or have to work on Tuesday and Thursday like me. I'm open to other dates as well, but July's pretty booked up.

Possibly the Mission/Harrison area? I don't know many trails there, but I know there's lots of logging roads that lead to trails.

2X4's are also more than welcome to ride along. There's a parking lot at the bottom that we can do a group photo, and if you're not comfortable taking the 2by up the road, ride along with an FDI or FDII! We'll need a camera person too!

PaTry-it ; davecanuck ; Deltaboy ; Petbug ; kdxlive ; RZ350 ; shirk ; dokboy ; kdxlive ; hoth ; C4TH ; Nvan08 ; Soundy ; nvloc and anyone else - consider this a personal invitation!

Are there any Squamish Pat's out there???

Camping..

I'm going camping July 2nd - 5th. Not sure where yet but it will definitely involve some 4x4ing. Looking to get the R&R kit shipped and installed before then. Pushing it, i know, but want to be able and get up Mt. Stoyoma (aka Cabin lake) in the Fraser Canyon area. If not, then will prob do some 4x4ing on and off the In-Shuck-Ch FSR.

july 1st - reserve for the beach and mojitos

I should be able to join on July 1st. Keep me posted. My apology for late reply, I have been away

So, I'm going to look for a small lake to swim in when we get there. Hopefully the summer heat returns!

Soundy, Petbug, yaya, shirk. - are you still in for July 1?

Soundy - FDI or FDII? are you running SR-A's? just curious.

I dunno, only one I'm really familiar with around here is the road up the west side of Stave Lake (shows on Google Maps as Burma St. and Aka Florence Lake FSR). If you're wanting somewhere to swim, Sayres Lake is accessible from there.

Something I've always wanted to do is a circle trip up the so-called "Sasquatch Highway", up the west side of Harrison, over to the east side of Lillooet Lake, and into Pemberton, then come back down via the Sea-to-Sky. That might be a little ambitious for a light day trip tho.

awesome. I was just looking at Florence Lake, and have asked about it on bc4x4.com.

I've done the West side of Harrison from Pemby to Vancouver. It was 5 hours of logging road - after driving to Pemberton 2-3 hours on the highway, and another 2 hours highway to get home. It's a great drive, but it's really a two day trip with a tent inbetween somewhere. One day would be too ambitious.

Halfway down Harrison lake, we ran into a logging crew that was working in a 6" deep muddy swath of the road. I asked if the road lead to Vancouver, and one of the guys gave my stock S-10 Jimmy a sideways glance and said - "yeah - eventually". good times!

I am in and looking forward to some fun. Anywhere is fine with me, hopefully we have a convoy. Do we need extra gas???

dokboy, where are you??? I've seen your Jeeping pics, and hope you can join us!

So, meeting place?!?!

google maps doesn't have the Golden Ears Bridge on it yet, but I was thinking of a meeting spot on the north end of the bridge somewhere. Any ideas Soundy? I believe the bridge is still free to drive over (no toll yet).

How's 10 AM for everyone?

10:00 AM is fine. How many do we have so far?

Right, so, do we have a destination set? Stave? Elsewhere? I have an account on www.bivouac.com, they have a intense listing of backroads and the like (although they concentrate more on the Squamish district), so I can see what else there is around here.

Everyone down with Meadowtown parking lot as a meeting place? I can give directions if you're coming over the Golden Ears Bridge, since Google Maps doesn't show the completed interchanges yet.

I'm gonna throw my portable BBQ in the rig as well, so if anyone wants to bring along dead flesh to cook up for lunch at the destination... (and if you don't have any, there's a Superstore right there).

I am absolutely down with the bbq.

My backroads mapbook shows some roads around Stave, Sayres, etc. Let's just go drive and see what we find.

10 AM at Meadowtown sounds good. I just got my fill of KFC today after an epic ride, so smokies sound good.

Yeah, just been reviewing my pics from my drive up there last spring. Found a GPS track for that road on bivouac.com, too... will post up a .KML for anyone who wants to take a look. Good little afternoon drive.
