Fuel cut-off on Pats ?

Hi there,

Does anybody know if our Pats have a fuel cut-off programmed in the ECU ? This is the feature allowing to cut fuel to the injectors when coasting in gear above a certain RPM (usually 1500).

I heard that the newer models have it, but not the older ones. Mine is a 2009 manual awd.

Is good to know in order to adapt your driving style to maximize mpg : if you don't have it, you better coast in neutral to preserve momentum. If you do, coasting in 5th gear saves more fuel (and brake pads). I live in a region with a lot of hills and I think it can make a difference.

Creaky is a 2009 manual awd and it has it. If you have a scan gauge you can see it work. If I remember correctly you can see it cut out when coasting downhill in gear with your foot off the gas.....

My 2013 Pat never goes above 100mpg while on, I can turn off the engine while coasting and get the reading to max @255mpg. Other vehicles will max it out at 255mpg while coasting with the engine on. Maybe just the manual transmission Pats have the feature.

Is there any way to know without a scan gauge ? Chrysler does not provide any information on this ?

I too am interested in this... I wish Chrysler added this feature to the left side of the dash... Not like there isn't room!

On my scanguageII, when letting off the gas and coasting, the realtime L/100kms goes to 0.0 indicating fuel cutoff when decelerating
