Ok I'm going for it. I finally got the nerve up. I just got my Flowmaster Super 44. Now I'm getting rid of the super quiet stock muffler. I chose the Super 44 because it gets a deeper, less rice, rumble from most 4 cyl and from what I've seen with Toyota it tends to be somewhat quieter. Sort of. I have not been able to find anyone who has done this before so I figure it will take some time to do it right. On Friday I will start getting it put together and will post pictures.

Can't wait to hear it. I don't think anyone has tried the super 44s yet.

If gas was $2.00 a gallon or less I would be a V8 guy!!!

Flowmaster makes great sounding mufflers, I've mostly heard them on V6's though. I would love a flowmaster or magnaflow one day.

I think I've figure out the best way to mount my Super 44. Keeping in mind I live in Fl and don't have rocks, hills, snow or really any terrain I really only deal with soupy mud and water. Since I began off road with my uncle in the 80's we've dealt with water and flooding. I am going to put the inlet higher than the out let just incase it does flood and turns off under water. It will have to be turned sideways. Planning on the inlet being on the left side. This will put the inlet pipe close to the oem muffler hanger. The out let will go close to the oem location allowing for use of the oem muffler hanger. I am hoping my pipe bending skills are up to par, but either way doing it my self I will be happier no matter how ricey it sounds. Look for pictures starting tomorrow.

This is my first 4- banger I've always had v8 cars with a couple v6 and 2 i6 however I like a truck type sound being this is a jeep.
I don't not like the ricer sound I just don't want it on a jeep

I don't get the negativity certain people bring to topics. It's not your car, it's the owners. I personally want a nice volumed, semi-ricer sound. It's all about how the driver want's the riot to be. If it's not your style, just wish him luck on his build, if it's your style, follow the build and enjoy the results.

I'm along for the ride, and will eat my bowl of rice with a fork if I so please!

The Armchair Muffler Experts, you guys are somewhat Clueless. I put a Flowmaster Hushpower inline on my Patriot and it sounds great, no ricer sound as I can't stand them. There is no longer a biga$$ Muffler in the stock location. It is empty where the stock muffler used to be.

Yeah ok armchair experts, like I said before I'm glad a couple of you like the muffler and think it sounds good on your 4 cyl. Just don't get mad that others have an opinion and they don't like it.

I don't know what all that crap is on the tailpipe section but I don't have any of that bs welded or bolted to my Patriot. My Hushpower is mounted about half up on my Patriot. Those videos show some bs on the back section, tailpipe area that makes it sound that way. My Patriot does not sound like those Subarus at all. I HATE the Ricer Sound and at 58 years old, I sure the hell wouldn't have my Patriot sounding like that. Nice Videos you posted. Can you post a photo of the Flowmaster Hushpower ?

I have the Flowmaster Hushpower-2, a thin narrow nice sounding unit. Until one actually changes to said muffler and listens to said muffler on their own vehicle and not some other vehicle then said person can post all the videos they want cause said person will not actually know what the actual sound is. It's like the Mainstream Media, do you believe what said Media tells you ?

Basic same stock displacement, the manufacturer doesn't really matter that's why I say 4 cyl. I can listen to your hushpower 2 on different vehicles with the same stock displacement and there pretty much all gonna sound the same. I have heard the huspower 2 also. Like I said before I'm glad some off you like it. They don't sound good to me. Since some people like them and some people think they sound like crap I will leave it at that and stop jacking up the op thread.

I personally love my flowmaster tone! it is not loud and high pich but rather quiet and a bit deep, not so ricey sounding. I think there is a difference in sound from muffler to muffler. it's also a belief of mine that a vehicle sounds different if it's a different manufacturer even if the displacement is the same size

My thoughts as well. Things like timing, compression, bore and stroke all make the exhaust note unique in my opinion.

I have it all done. It has a deep sound but not a rumble. The inside resonance is not bad. I can hear the radio fine set at 10. I am trying to get pics and video but my file sizes are too large and it will not upload.
