well, i digress.
on the first major road trip for the patriot today, yes i have seen the culprit.
it was windy and raining and upon reaching hiway speeds of 65mph, i saw the rear lift up.
now, i have both foam pieces, and what appear's to be the newer hinges. (no bends and V110 stampings).
guess the only adjustment would be the 10mm bolts in the back of the hood.
i have not touched anything.
would you try the adjustment, or just let the dealer deal with it?
on a good note: it has been raining hard several day's since i got the pat, and a few washes later... no leaks :smiley_thumbs_up:
just wondering how everyone dealt with the hood?
any fix's i could print for the dealer?

I would certainly let the dealer mess with it. You don't want to be under the hood messing with the latches and have the hood get bent up or scratched up. If the dealer messes it up then they can repair it for you. I would print off some stuff from this site to educate and inform your dealer of the problems and some of the fixes others have done to get this resolved. Good luck!!

yea, your right.
that's why you have warranty.
i work 6:45 till 3:30 pm.
they do have pick up & delivery,so before work i am going to just drop off a note with the problem in their key drop off box. and with any luck they will get to it tomorrow.
also noticed a small scratch in the drivers side arm rest,on the silver bezel. pointed that out also.

I've had my rig up to 100 mph on a clear, no wind day on a straight road, and saw no movement of the hood, side to side or the rear raising up. Perhaps there's a combination of conditions that have to be met before this happens, or maybe it is just a group of serial numbers...don't know

FYI: If you're familiar with the other flappy hood posts, you know that a dealership was able to fix the problem for me. The problem is back again, so the new hinges aren't the right fix. It's actually worse now than it was before, the entire hood moves instead of just the driver's side. Way too far from a dealership now, so it's going to be something I've got to live with until a correct fix is figured out.

wow.:wow: that was one heck of a dealer experience.
dropped my notes off before work.
checked my pat at break, it was gone.:)
was back in the lot ready for the trip home.
passed a semi going the other way, no flappie...
when i got in, i checked the hood.
MUCH MORE SOLID. you cannot lift up on the rear corners.
and there are no unsightly gaps.
they even got the scratch mark out of the silver door bezel.:smiley_thumbs_up:
from the work order:
customer states rear corners of hood lift at highway speed & hinges also have play.
ADJUSTED HOOD HINGES.
don't really know what they did, but apparantly, this is not their first one.
so, for a dealer i am really impressed with my first issue.
guess some do care.

that sounds promising...windy day today on the interstate and again noticed some pretty shady stuff going on with the hood.

on my hood if you grasp the edge by the windshield you can gently pull on it and feel some play....which is what i'm seeing flap around at higher speeds.
