Just checking to see if any of you have running boards or Neff bars on your Patriots? I was this close in buying black Romik running boards at a great price but the seller never responded to my inquiry if it would fit a 2011 Patriot.

It all comes down to a question of ground clearance. If you don't go off road or deep snow, and don't need the clearance, they should be fine. However the Patriot is already shy on clearance compared to other Jeeps, so re-examine your uses for your Patriot before you make the investment.

I have been wondering about that...... I normally drive on freeways in Orange County and some street snarling...basically it is for the finished looks...just wanted to check out with other Patriot drivers to see if they have any issues and to find out which brands are highly recommended...;)

A lot of people on this forum seem to like Rocky Road Outfitters Super-Sliders. They don't effect ground clearance, they offer a bit of a step, plus they actually protect your Jeep:

RRO Superslider's sort of fit like they advertise as long as their welder was having a good day. But I have them on mine (they also have simple rails), but these are heavy duty for off-roading. I have seen one member with shiny step bars (and barely enough room to clear speed bumps with their setup :p )

the_jeep,
Not yet, will try to get some this weekend if weather clears. This will also show what I meant about their welding... mounting plate that is supposed to be secured to the frame with a fat, stubby self-threading screw is about half inch from frame on one side, and 1" on other. Distance on the rails mounting bar that bolts to the pinch weld, and the rails themselves differs a little, so it's not really the Patriot's frame to blame as some on here would probably like to assume. ;-P

But if you're not going off-road, maybe get some spiffy stainless or chrome step bars if you're going for looks. This place has some: http://www.carid.com/jeep-patriot-side-steps/

Jody... Pimpin'. lol

I've thought about adding some diamond plate to my rails, any ideas?

Well.. I have the nerf bars installed on my Patriot and I don't understand how it could cause an issue with snow.. From the lowest point on the bars I still have almost 6" of clearance. The splash guards hang lower than the rails do.. I don't live in an area that snows a lot if any so its not going to be a problem for me.

I don;t think those would hurt in snow. The ones I see on vehicles where they do get snow, and use road salt and mix in small gravel for traction all are rusted pretty bad though. They take a beating out there.

The flat bottom with skid plates seems to help get us high centered.
