I know you can get a Metal Skid Plate Engine guard thats offered in the FD II. Anyone know how much it is to buy? I just wants to add one to the jeep.

Also, would it just be direct mount on? Just remove the plastic engine cover guard and screws on the metal one?

Thanks

sorry to sound like an #&*, but have you tried a 'search' for skid plate? this has been discussed AT LENGTH in many threads, with part numbers and prices.

prices of course have more than likely gone UP but you can get the part numbers and check with your dealer. OR you could just call your dealer and ask THEM to look it up and give you the info.

also, there was some lack of hardware available from Chrysler to attach these skid plates. another member came up with a 'package' on his own and was selling them. you might PM "gramps" and see if he's still around.

here's a link for the hardware.....

good luck :smiley_thumbs_up:

I plan on ordering them in a month or so. It appears they go on exactly like the shield using the same bolts. Honestly I just planned on ordering them and then removing the plastic ones and seeing if everything fit correctly. Looking at the picture of them they appear to be the same.

I believe they mount to a couple different points and that you will need to use larger bolts due to the difference in weight between the plastic shield and the heavy metal skid plate. been a long time since I've been down this road. I originally supplied this forum with the part numbers, prices and availablity and "gramps" took it from there.

PM him and see if he'll respond. he installed all 3 of them himself on his Compass 4x4...same setup.

Ya, the ordering is pretty easy. A couple of places have them on-line. It seems as easy as doing the "muffler mod". Adding a tow hitch in a week or so and then I will tackle the skids in a month or so. I have every bolt imaginable so I am not too worried. The bolts on my 2010 Pat seem pretty durable, but I will see when I remove them.
