Shortly after I got my Pat a year and a half ago or so, I had an odd experience. I went to start the car and turned the key and nothing happened. No noise, nothing. The dash was lit so it wasn't the battery. I took the key out and then tried the whole procedure again (foot on the brake, etc.) and it started right up. Since I had no further experiences like that I more or less let it go.

Until yesterday, when it happened again. Two turns of the key and nothing, so then I pulled out the key, and started over and the car started right up.

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. My only idea is that maybe the starter is starting to go bad, but other then that I can only think of maybe a switch somewhere or something like that.

If you can get access to a code reader easily, the next time this issue shows up hook it up. I had one hooked up the other day and it was telling me that the vehicle wasn't recognizing the key pushed into the start position.

Do you get a blinking red light when this happens? That red light means the security system thinks your using a bad key. Try using a spare chipped key and if you have one a non-chipped key(if red light doesn't blink with this key probly security).

Check a few connections, the usuals like battery, starter, fuses and grounds. Could be something as simple as that to start.

I'm still not convinced it is the tipm in my case.

If ambitious check your transmission range sensor. Located underneath your battery tray.

I had this with my diesel. I called out the recovery service and the guy was well versed in Jeeps, grasped down to the starter motor top connection, wiggled it and stood clear whilst I started it. It turned over and started first time. He said it's very common and suggested I strip out the battery tray and clean the connectors up fully when I had time
