I recently put in these new plugs after reading about the hp gains and mpgs.
My friend with a 2003 wrx put them in his car for a little more hp. I thought its was a scam until i saw a video of horsepower tv testing them on a dyno. the e3 spark plugs gained 5.5 more horsepower and used about 5 percent less gas. so i decided to get a set from summitracing.com it ended up being about 33 dollars with shipping. I ordered the plugs wednesday night and put them in friday. I not only noticed a little more horsepower but gained 2 mpg. i love these things. a few days later i got a dyno run for it the results came out as follows.

0-10 1.72 sec
0-20 2.89 sec
0-30 4.17 sec
0-40 5.46 sec
0-50 6.81 sec
0-60 8.39 sec
0-70 9.99 sec
0-80 11.56 sec

1/4 mile time 16.17 seconds
peak hp 181 hp

i also have a k&n air filter
the dyno seemed kind of sketchy but i got these results a gain of 9 hp sounds good give them a test and get back to me

Okay, I'm back from the fun mountain trip! :) ......sorry, but I have to say, I sure miss my expy with it's big V8 and the room it had :) ....but the pat did fine.

ilterzo84 I got ya on the lag. ....although I seen some normal lag, when I was pushing to go up that mountain! ;) ........lordy I miss my V8:D

..and ilterzo84 you dont like the mind blower chip for the pat either?

I agree about the rpms....wow...do they go way over or what? A few/lot of times I had mine at 4:wow:

Well guys now what? Do I remove my mind blower? :( ...I sure dont want to blow up my motor! But, I sure love the pick up it gives me!! I dont want to boggle down again....help me:confused:

I'll be investing in the K&N filter and the E3 plugs....if those are the two good sources to do now.

So patman let me know if you are keeping yours performance chip on or not. Any and all suggestions are needed :)

...and folks...do any of you know the band "foreigner"? I saw them standing within 25ft of me this weekend in the mountains :) ....it was so much fun!

sbelk1, did you ever get your ecm reflashed, that may fix some of your sluggishness and as other people said the electronic accelleration and cvt will make it appear sluggish and in fact mashing the pedal all the way down works against itself. When I drove one for the first time I was unaware it had a cvt, I noticed no sluggishness, but then I am never the type to mash the pedal to the floor either.

JeepinLG....ha ha :) ..no thank ya!

SGtarky no I havent had the ecm reflashed.......I dont drive pushing the pedal to the floor either......but when you cruise up the mountains, well, you gotta push and go......and if you need to get up and go in normal traffic or to pull out, then that is when you need the get up and go, without stalling like it did before I had the mind performance chip put in. If I have the chip removed and the ecm reflashed, will it stop the stalling??? You state it'll fix the sluggish.....I'm really concerned about the stalling part....boggling down literally if I need to push it to get up and go :( ...that is if I remove the performance chip.

I ran the dyno with the mindblower my mpg is up 1 and my 0-60 time is down to 8.5 the mindblower made the pat slower. The day after I ran a dyno with the camaro intake I have and ran 0-60 in 8.11 seconds and had 192 hp and I'm sure the air intake is much better for mpg and performance and the same goes for the plugs.

Lord help me for opening a can of worms here...but...:icon_rolleyes:

This is all hypothetical, I'm not recommending this for anyone! Just an exploration of a theory I have. What about one of these Mind-Blower chips with Ethanol?

A couple reasons why I ask that...one, I apparently want someone to again tell me the evils of ethanol  and two, ethanol does have a cooling effect on the engine as a fuel. The conversion kits they have tell the engine to pump in more fuel when running ethanol, hence the slight drop in fuel economy running e85.

But, what if you ran one of these chips, with the conversion kit? The Riot would probably rocket off the line! E85 is 105 octane! Again, I'm not suggesting this, just questioning a theory my twisted head came up with. :D

Idea looks good BUT if they were that good would rally teams not use them. Prodrive specify NGK..a very specialised plug R7434-8 at around $50 per plug. If E3 were better would they just not use them. As far as i know all rally teams use NGK.....

A while back Champion splitfire were the latest things...BUT....again NO rally teams ever used them.....

just my thoughts
