As far as i can tell, there is no chrome fuel door for the Pat for now.

The price is right, but I would want to know if the diameter is correct and if all clearances are OK.

 

The compass and riot's fuel door are very diiferent. The compass fuel door is flat, whereas the riot's is not. THe riot's fuel door is located where the body curves or bends, so it is not flat at all. I checked with the dealer parts dept. and he was baffled when he looked at his dealer catalog and every Jeep has chrome fuel doors available except for the patriot. I thought of removing it and painting it myself with chrome spray paint, but that might end up a disaster. I guess we'll have to wait til Mopar produces one if at all.

 

how expensive would it be to take it to a bumper repair shop and have it chrome plated??? (assuming the shop works chrome bumpers)

 

I had my air registered triple chromed for around $60, should be around the same price.

 

normal "chrome" paint never looks like chrome . Not really a fan of the chrome gas doors myself but I have checked out this paint when thinking about some other items that could use some chrome. it is Alsa corp killer cans chrome. It looks good on their site but the shipping was more than the product (hazardous product maybe?) so did not order any but would have liked to try it out.

when I checked it was 115 for the three part kit ,which included three parts ,black, aluminum chrome spray and a clear. the black could probably be substituted but I would check into the various clears they have to avoid discolouring the "chrome". As per the shipping could be I priced out the 115 dollar kit and it was shipping to canada.If you pick some up post the results and pics , actually send me a message incase i miss a post.

 

How about automotive exterior grade chrome vinyl film? It is self-adhesive and conforms to most any surface. It is also removable in case you don't like it. A 24" by 12" sheet costs less than $10. You want a film that is thick enough to not show imperfections and be easy to handle, but thin enough to bend around the edge of your fuel door (after slitting with a razor knife). Buy a large enough piece you can experiment a few times to get it right.

You might check your local auto parts places like Autozone, etc to see if they stock something similar. Best luck.

New item on ebay, Chrome Fuel Door decal. looks like it's not an actual fuel door but a pre-cut decal. I'm thinking of buying one but it seems pretty expensive for a decal. What do you guys think?

This is the ABS plastic with chrome overlay, like the grill, door handles, and mirror covers. I just ordered it and will let you know.

 

The fuel door from ebay does not fit. It is straight and the fuel door on our Riots curves. It is also not ABS plastic but stainless steel. I guess it could be bent to fit the curve but then I suspect the lip part of the cover would bulge and not fit snugly. I have e-mailed the seller asking for a refund and asking her to stop advertising it as fitting any model year Patriot. If she keeps on advertising it that way I'll let ebay know so they can remove the auction. Sucks. Bummed out my Saturday. The search continues.
