I just noticed another scratch on the front of my pat, I've never had a car that gets as many car park scuffs as this one. I,ve had it just over 12 months now, and I seem to get one or two a month! Is it just bad luck or is it because the front bumper (fender) juts out about six inches making it more vunerable to careless parkers that cut it a bit fine and just dont see it

I've noticed the plastic parts of the Patriot scratch easier then the metal parts. I have a coworker who paints cars on the side. He says the flexible paint used on the plastic parts is softer so it won't crack and flake off when the plastic gives. If you've seen a metal body panel with a sharp dent, often the paint flakes off where the bend is.

when i can i park in the rear on the parking lot far away from dumb drivers who park and open there doors not remembering there is a car parked right next to them. what dummies some people just seem to not car about there cars.

Having my cars scratched by inconsiderate idiots in parking lots, I now park in the area farthest from the building doors, even if there closer spots. Seems most people will circle several times to get a spot closest to the building. Their lazy mindset suggest impatience and maybe selfishness: they won't be careful with the adjacent parked cars.

Maybe they're too heavy to walk?

No, they must be dumb. I'm a little heavy but know that if I want to guarantee I don't get scratch I drive directly to the back on the lot. Those people that circle around looking for the closest spots are usually a little lazy and don't want to walk the extra 30 seconds. " Oh man 30 seconds damn! Thats Far!" Their also the people that open there doors without noticing the car parked right next to them.

I don't think it is lazy. It is simply a different value system. Some people just use cars. Period. They care nothing about it other than it is transportation, and fail to understand that anyone else feels differently. These people often trade cars every few years with little or no emotional involvement. For a guy like me who kept his first car he bought in 1980, I can't imagine how people can go through life not caring about their vehicles or damaging others.

Some people just aren't considerate. They don't realize how important peoples cars are to them.
One thing I try to do is park on the end of a row. Many lots have a little landscaping peninsula that comes out every so often. I would park in this spot so i only had cars on one side of me. In addition, I would park as close as possible to the side curb. That leaves more room between me and the adjacent car, hopefully reducing the chance of my car getting hit.

:( Yep, I've noticed it doesn't take much to scratch the paintwork,The paint is so darn thin
Mind you i've never had a car so badly finished off as this car in respect of the spray paint and weld splatter. Have a look around the inside of the tailgate.:(
Why do I love it so !!
