Canadian 2008 Patriot North...rear DRUM brakes instead of discs???

Tell me this is not true...

The 2007 Patriot had standard 4-wheel disc brakes (all models), and I'm finding some information that indicates that this will no longer be the case.. base models (Sport/North, I presume) will have FR disc/RR drum brakes standard, with no Disc/Disc option available (maybe only for the Limited?)

What kind of a !@#$% step backwards would that be, huh? This is one reason I'm looking to order the Pat, ABS and all-wheel discs + airbags around...and they are going to REMOVE a key selling feature?

At the very least, it better be disc/disc on the North or available as an option.

And now, the leather steering wheel, and the fog lamps are buried in expensive option groups??? Who makes such decisions?

At least someone figured out that if you are going to tow 2000lbs, you should have a full-size spare come with the Tow group....

Anyways, if anyone has any info on the brakes thing for Canada, I'd greatly appreciate it, as I am considering ordering soon.

Cheers from TGWN

Hello TGWN,

We just ordered a 2008 Jeep Patriot North and I have the detailed specifications sheet from the dealer in front of me. Antilock 4 wheel disc brakes are "standard" equipment on the Sport, North and Limited.

Both the fog lamps and full size spare only come with the FDII Off Road group (AWL).

You can purchase the exact same fog lamps separately and install, however you will need to have a separate switch which is included. (Part #82210435)

The Trailer Tow Prep Group (AHC) does not include the full size tire.

Hope this helps....

Great information and help thanks!

The info about the drum brakes comes up on the carcostcanada.com site. The full-size spare coming with the Trailer Tow Prep Group was quoted by a user on this board (2008 Patriot features).... confusion reigns.

Where are you/where did you order from? Trying to order in Atlantic Canada seems to be hard for dealers...

O yeah, TGWN is The Great White North!
