The 2.0L is only available with the CVT and on Sport 2WD models. Best FE combo is 2WD 2.4L 5-spd (also lowest cost), then 2WD 2.0L CVT, then 4WD 5-spd, then 2.4L CVT (2WD or 4WD), then 2.4L CVTL (Freedom Drive II).

I second this advice. I have 2.0L CVT and drive 90% in city...sometimes 100% in one fill up. I always get better than 21MPG (mostly around 23MPG). That's with cheapest gasoline I could find in my neighborhood and includes ~2 minutes warm up in the morning.
