Did you look at replies on that thread? Most of them are enraged by the article. Woe, when I am indifferent to something I just take it like a grain of salt. Do any of you blast Honda or Toyota reviews? Speaking for myself, I'll save my energy on something more important. Pat is best bang for buck in awd vehicle. Period.

Escape MPG's

Seems like the Escape is getting slammed for not coming close to the EPA #'s in fuel economy. MT said it was underpowered in real world driving as well.

I also hate that they went euro-styling like everyone else. Why must every SUV/CUV look the same?

That is something the 4cyl Equinox( and its' cousin the GMC Terrain )have had issues with in 4cyl vehicles. Falling far short of the EPA figures for most drivers. Very strange as GM's are known for easily exceeding EPA ratings. I know the ones I have had at the least met EPA ratings but generally far exceeded them.

I don't care for the Escape's styling but I think the Equinox and Terrain look good. I would drive either one of those and not be ashamed. The Escape not so much. Of course the Escape is a sardine can and I wouldn't be able to fit in it to drive it anyway so I am good. :D

Depends on what you want to do with your vehicle. My Pat (which I really miss) would take me down any old road I cared to travel. Plenty of ground clearance, skid plates etc.

Yesterday in our Terrain we were going down a gravel road with a small wash out from recent rains and I hear a crunch as I go over a out a 7-8 inch ditch. When we get home I find the front frame had contacted the road and there are a few scratches on the oil pan. This all happened while moving slow and picking my lines carefully. My old Pat had seen much much worse and never dragged anything.

The Terrain is a great car that looks like an SUV. It has a great ride, is quicker and slightly more comfortable than The Pat, but it is crap for even riding down gravel roads. I wish my wife would have liked the Pat more but as it is I see the Terrain we will be driving in our new SUV will be paved.
