Ok so after thinking about the tow hook issue I noticed this on the rear of the Jeep;

And then when I opened up the little flap;

I've not checked inside the car where the spare tyre is but I suspect I will have a little towing eye that will screw into it.

So I was thinking for all non European Customers, this may be a really simple mod you could do yourselves if you don't have the tow hooks.

haven't looked myself but know of lots of cars with this system tow hook is screw in and ususally in with jack/wheelbrace.

the real tow hooks are attached to the frame of the Jeep with two 12 mm bolts and to the rear bumper with one 10 mm bolt...

I really would NOT use a single anchor spot like shown above to pull a stuck Patriot out of the mud. I will guarantee that the bolt will tear out of that small thread if you try that.

Now, using that hole to tie down a canoe to the roof might be another story.

Now if they only had two of those spots in the front bumper I would then really be happy and would have somewhere to attach my canoe

Guess no-one reads my posts then...

As I've pointed out, Euro-Patriots come with a detachable tow hook.
Ash has shown you where the rear mount point is, and there is one on the front bumper also. However, as has already been pointed out, that detachable hook is pretty flimsy for any serious towing. (In fact the manual claims one is only allowed to use the tow hook on asphalt... :) ) A proper, solid hook would be much better, especially for off-road use.
