6 speed automatic issues

New to the site and first time to post. Sorry this may be a long one. I have a small dealership and recently purchased a 2014 Patriot with the 6 speed automatic transmission from an auction. It has 78k miles. The transmission shifts perfect from 1st to 2nd but revs up pretty bad between all other shifts. Warranty expired June 2018. I took it to the Jeep dealer and they said the transmission was bad. They also said that was the first one they’ve seen with an issue. I replaced it with a salvage yard transmission and have the exact same issue. My mechanic can take his scanner and reset the parameters and it will shift perfect for about 5 drive cycles but the longer you drive it the worse it gets. 3rd to 4th shift will actually rev to the limiter if you don’t let off for it to shift. I have replaced the TCM and ECM which made no improvement. I found the previous owners name and contacted them. She advised that she was rear ended months ago and the transmission was never right since. She had 3 transmissions put in it before giving up. She sent pics of the damage. They replaced the left rear quarter panel, wheel and tire, shock, control arms and suspension cross member. I have taken out the interior panels on the left rear and searched for broken wires and loose grounds. I also replaced the left rear hub assy and speed sensor just to make sure there wasn’t an issue there with the signal to the ECM. I’ve had it to multiple dealers and transmission shops but no one can figure it out. Doesn’t make sense to me that a rear end collision would affect a front wheel drive transmission but that is the story I’m getting. Just hoping someone may have some ideas before I give up also. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for any advice.

I had to get a new engine but now I’m looking for a new transmission. The thing is I took care of the cvt transmission and I changed the transmission fluid very 40,000 miles until it hit 102000 miles and everything went bad. it interfered with the engine causing me to have to get both a new engine and a transmission. That’s why I’d much rather just get a entirely different transmission instead of the same one. As far as the engine I got the same 2.4 L. No complaints about it other than it could use some more power. It was trouble free up to that moment.

Fact is the transmissions are bad. I’d wish I’d had more positive things to say but now I had to pay out of my pocket for a new engineer plus now the transmission. Even before this happened I took it to the Jeep dealership I bought it from and they “updated” the software and said it wasn’t anything wrong with it when it was. They gave it back to me and I’ve started having the same exact problem again. They didn’t even fix it and when I took it back they said it’s nothing they could do. Which is just bs excuse me.

A select few have problems with the JATCO transmission, which are said to not be the best example of the CVT, but they still work. The GEMA 2.4L could be tuned for a bit more power, but really we don't need that much more, because JEEP. Maybe a little more on the low end is all. Chrysler dealerships are also notorious for not knowing diddly squat about their own product(or in this case, product contracted from Nissan/JATCO) on many occasions....thinking the 6-spd conventional specified on a build sheet is the CVT, going exclusively by an absolute bullcrap maintenance schedule, and of course the old "it's a sealed unit, just pay us $5000 to replace it when it goes out" thing.

I don't agree with Jack Baruth on everything, but he was spot on with this one. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a30505/new-car-service/

Hello, hope you found a solution for this and didn't end up taking it to the dumpster. I've been having the same issue and would appreciate your input (or anyone else's). I originally swapped the transmission because it would not move forward. Now it moves but just as you describe, the more you drive it after resetting the adaptives the worse it gets. I have replaced everything just as you did, the throttle body, ecm, transmission (a second time), spark plugs, cleaned injectors, updated the tcm to the latest calibration and even drove it around for a little while with the abs disconnected hoping that would solve the issue if it was something regarding a wheel speed senor.

I don't think this problem is caused by the transmission because I took both apart and inspected everything (aside from vacuum testing the valve bodies) and it all looked to be ok. I am not putting the blame on the shafts speed sensor either since they are internal and have been replaced with the transmission they come inside of.

Any ideas would be welcomed and considered. Hope to hear from you and the community.
