Sure hope our 2014 does not have this issue:

2014 Jeep Patriot ENGINENHTSA Campaign #13V552000
Date Announced:NOVEMBER 06, 2013
Vehicles Affected:521

Summary: Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200, and model year 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles equipped with 2.4L engines. Due to abrasive debris in the balance shaft bearings, these engines may have a loss of engine oil pressure, possibly resulting in an engine stall or engine failure.

Consequence: If the engine stalls while driving it may increase the risk of a crash.

Actions: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine balance shaft module, free of charge. The recall began on December 24, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N52. For detailed information & supporting documents, see the official NHTSA page concerning recall #13V552000

I wonder if this is the same recall as this posted by JeepCares in this thread:
Safety Recall N52
Engine Balance Shaft Module
November 2013

Models
2013 - 2014 (JS) Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200
(JC) Dodge Journey
(MK) Jeep Compass and Patriot
(JF) Fiat Freemont
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine (sales codes ED3 or EDG) built from March 15, 2013 through May 06, 2013 (MDH 031521 through 050622).
IMPORTANT: Some of the vehicles within the above build period have already been inspected or repaired and, therefore, have been excluded from this recall.

Subject
The engine balance shaft module on about 47 of the above vehicles may cause a loss of engine oil pressure during normal operation. A loss of oil pressure will cause the engine to fail. An engine failure during certain driving conditions could cause a crash without warning.

Repair
The engine balance shaft module must be replaced.

We ordered our 2014 Patriot in March, 2013 and it was built and delivered in early April, smack dab in the middle of the engine build dates listed above:mad:

I just called Chrysler customer support and verified that my Patriot is A.O.K..:pepper::pepper:
