Hello:
I just bought a new 2012 Jeep Patriot and I'm wondering if there is a performance chip out there that fits and it's somewhat easy to install myself. If anyone knows about a chip that will add HP and MPG, please let me know.

Thanks

Lots of chips out there for the Export/UK Diesel Patriot---but the Gasoline / Petrol Patriot ?? Sorry all you get is Ebay snake oil . Dont touch them !!

adding horsepower AND mpg are not the usual outcome.
Usually you get one or the other.

You bought a 4 cylinder powered boxy CUV that puts out 174 HP.
A lot of 6 cyl SUVs don't put out that many horsepowers.

Best of luck to you but I'm thinking you maybe bought the wrong vehicle.

And don't double post...clutter and not needed. We can all read...

If you want more power, the only real option is a low pressure aftermarket turbocharger or supercharger, good luck with that... Anyhow, lots of dollars there, but lots of gains in torque. A low pressure turbo [4~6psi] might only net 50hp tops, but the extra torque will make your transaxle disappear up it's own bung hole in fear at the thought of it. :)

You could throw an exhaust and intake on your car, but it will become an noisy obnoxious thing with very little gains, too. There was a guy called something spaceman? that had his ECU/PCM thing remapped somewhere to increase performance. You could find the thread, but he doesn't post on here any more it seems...

you can find performance chips being advertised that will both increase HP and mileage. I doubt that is the case like someone said you either get one or the other. My friend bought one a few years back for his Mazda and had some electrical problems and because he "modified" his electronics his repair was not covered under warranty.

I am scared of putting one of these chips in my car.

The stock power and MPG is it fine for me.
