I posted this in the newbie section but thought it would be more fitting to have it in the electrical and audio section.
I finally got Uconnect installed and the Ipod cable. The Ipod cable is like $37 and I did not have to pay to have it installed because I asked them to throw it in the purchase of the car as part of the deal.
My impressions:
I am somewhat dissapointed in the functionality of the hands free phone. I had to use a specific procedure that I found on the internet to get my Sprint HtC Evo to pair. Otherwise it would not stay paired and keep disconnecting. The phone will pair up now a minute or so after I get in the car, but a lot of times I will press the "phone" button on the radio and it will not respond and sometimes it will after more than a minute, or say the phone is unavailable, or not at all. I do realize my phone is not on the compatable list so I am hoping with an update on my phone or RHB430N update this will get fixed.
The Ipod control is a bit of a dissappointment too. Sometimes I have to unplug, and plug it back in to get it to recognize it as a aux device. Again, it is a 2nd generation Classic 2006 and it is not on the compatable list. Once it does work though it works great, however I occasionally hear a crackling/static noise that is super annoying.
Lastly, the VR "Voice Recognition" is slow to respond too. Again it seems like the head unit has to warm up or boot up for a bit before it responds quickly to my pressing the button. Once again, when it wants to work, it works great.
In conclusion, i will be asking the dealer for an update for the radio and hope it fixes some issues, and see what they think about the crackling/static noise when I play the Ipod.
