My windows are tinted but in the sun you can still see my double din deck and there is no way to take it out or hide it so I made this for when I find myself parked in an LA, Stockton or Salinas parking lot and not wanting to get my **** taken.
1.Get a single or double din STOCK/OEM removable faceplate(just the faceplate!) from EBAY. There are a ton of them on there, probably mostly stolen, which is what we are trying to avoid The ****tier the better so if you can't find stock, get a crappy brand no one ever wants to steal. I got this one for 8 bucks
2. Get a black plastic abs square sheet to be cut to bezel sized opening
3. Hot glue the new "sweet looking" faceplate to the black sheet of plastic
4. Velcro strip across the back of the top of the plastic abs sheet
5. Velcro strip along the trim at the top of you dash kit/faceplate surrounding your deck

Keep this in your glovebox or center console. When you park, pop it on there

thats sick, but it looks a bit fishy to a theif, like who has a stock head unit the size of that lol, definitely would work on stupid theifs, but not smart ones, cuz i guess they get the feeling that something might be modified on the vehicle after just looking at it, such as the rims, tint.

example: my cousins POS yellow accord with limo tint got broken into, nothing was takin lol cuz it had nothing in it lol. theif broke in cuz they couldnt see inside, they assumed something would be in there lol. but there wasnt. best thing to do is reduce ur tint in the front windows so they see inside, see ur fake head unit, realize its nothing, and dont break in.

I had been thinking of this, how ever I was thinking more along the lines of a removable plate the was the "silver" color of the bezel and just popped on over the whole bezel to make it look as if it only had an A/C. I mean I think it would work, cheap car maybe came without audio? Back in the 90's I remember little S10 trucks that actually had a sticker over the A/c knobs to make it look like it had it, that was back when it was a option.

its gonna look cooler than the cut wires hanging out of your dash and the window glass on your seat. maybe that little strip of velcro can be your first aftermarket thing on your patriot Mud

I dont know if you mentioned it, use industrial strenght velcro. In other words the adhesive is stronger. I used regular velcro to hold my stereo remote in my truck. well with the hot summers the adhesive just let go now I have this gummy mess where the velcro usta be.

this is pretty funny. i did the basically the same thing. purchased a broken chrysler stereo off ebay. built a velcro on fake unit like this. it now sits over my avic f 700bt everytime i get out of the patriot. i previously had an avic d3 stolen out of my car. figured this was worth a try. got the idea from avic411 dot com...
