I use 5w-20 amsoil very happy with that so far.
My Amsoil dealer would like me to switch to 0w-20?
On average I do about 500kms a week, hot summers and very cold winters.
I have a K&N cold air intake , CVT automatic . 86000kms:confused:
Thank you for your advice its greatly appreciated

Is your AMSOIL dealer going to help you out if you have any oil-related problem and Chrysler gives you a hard time about not using what's specified in the manual?
( Not that you will, just throwing it out there)

I run Amsoil Signature Series SAE 0w-20 no problems, Chrysler can pack it where the Sun don't Shine. Is my engine going to blow up and Chrysler going to check my Oil? I really don't see a problem but sounds like you do, not to worry everything will be OK.

Oil-related failures are pretty rare these days, I think most of the worrying about 0W20, 5W20, or 5W30 is wasted time. So why bother?
But yes, in the event that something did happen, they'd probably analyze the oil, and anything else they could to try and squirm out of paying.

Good Point but I think the 2.4L engine will hold up to a lot of abuse. As long as there is good clean Oil in the engine. I've run my Patriot at Redline for several minutes at a time going up the Summitt, I think it likes it. I don't recommend it for others but I do it when need be. I drive my Patriot hard in the Mountain Hills sometimes. I have Faith in the 2.4 that it will withstand my Driving. Just my 2-cent opinion.

Run the 0w if you are in Alaska for the winter and don't have the block heater installed. Other then that, as already mentioned, they are both 20w at operating temps. If you want to compare the specs between different brands/kinds of 5w20 and 0w20 that might help you decide. The Amsoil 0w20 and XL 5w20 are for extended drain so you can run them 10,000+ miles easily with no concerns if that's your goal.

Yep. A friend of mine ran Amsoil 5W20 in her Honda at 10,000 mile intervals for about 80,000 miles and her UOA's were excellent. The wear rates were very low, solubles very low and TBN was still very good after 10,000. Then she switched to Mobil EP 5W20 and the results were almost identical. Engine still sounds like it was brand new.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSES.
I depend on these forums for a lot of advise, I was nervous about not following the manual but the oil is API certified. My intervals would be 20000kms which is 12000miles so I save a bit of money. My main goal is to keep my Patriot on the road and running well.
Thanks again

I use Mobil 1 5W20 and by pass the recommended oil change every 6000K, instead I change oil every 12 months and usually around 12,000K.
