Hi Everyone,

I'm hopefully going to be taking delivery of a new 2009 Patriot this week :smiley_thumbs_up:. Since I keep my vehicles for the long haul and the Patriot's warranty is kinda short :(, I'm contemplating purchasing either the Chrysler Added Care or Max Care warranty to stretch things out a little.

My question for those who have purchased them is:

Which one did you buy and how much did you pay? Please state term length and any other details you find pertinent, (a poll of sorts).

I've read all the threads on this that I can find but I know the markups can be really high for these things, and the price is negotiable. I think a thread with all of this info would be good information not only for me but anyone else purchasing a Patriot who wants to try to not get reamed.

Cheers,

NP

I got the max care lifetime for just under$3000., since every vehicle I've had has always had some problem that it paid for itself. I know some folks have always had good luck and not purchased them, but I've always been on the other side of the fence.
Usually for me it happens just after the 3yr 36000. On my Grand when I had it I got a new water pump for just the $100. deductable for over $1000.00 job, then had power steering problems a month later that a pump had to be replaced, and numerous CV Boots replaced. So for me it's worth it.

I paid about $2000 for maximum care lifetime warranty. I intend to keep the Jeep for 20 years to see if they stick by their word. I guess the price is different 'cause each Jeep has different options/extras.. At first I was seething mad when I realized some people had paid only $1400 for the warranty.

I've been looking into the Max Lifetime Warranty (with $100 deductable) lately. The local dealers want to charge $2,700 (actually the finance guy does the selling of the warranty), a relative of my wife works at another dealership and they offered us the "family" discount price of $1865, and I tested my web-fu yesterday and came up with a low price of $1565. The vehicle doesn't matter - in the past 4 months we've purchased a 2007 Patriot (new), a 2008 Grand Caravan, and a 2009 Journey, and the price doesn't change for any of those. I'm calling the $1,565 dealer from the web tomorrow to see if the price goes lower if we buy the warranty for all three vehicles.

We got super deals on all three vehicles ($6,400 off the Pat, $5K off the Journey, and almost $10K off the van) - the Jeep dealer didn't mention the warranty, and neither did the Journey dealer, but the Finance guy tried to sell us one with the Grand Caravan. I would've thought that all the dealers would be pushing the warranties. I'm glad I found out about the warranties from this forum a few months ago, and found out that they sell for a LOT less than what was offered to me at the dealer.

Just make sure they cover "everything" you want them too. I've received a lot of mail lately telling me to purchase warentees, which I already have mine, but just taking a quick look at some these, they don't cover everything.
Since your getting it from the dealer, remeber there are different types so just make sure you get the one you want with all the coverage you want.

I paid $2500 for a 5yr/75000mile bumper to bumper warranty when I bought my liberty. They have a clause that if a repair place is over 75miles away they pay for my room and board while its being fixed. And yes I did buy from a reputable dealer/warranty company, the reason it was so cheap is that the car has low mileage as well as passed a strict inspection.

Im a big fan of the Lifetime powertrain warranty. I dont have anything extra in my car at all, so its pretty much cheaper for me just to fix something when and if it breaks.

The lifetime powertrain was included on my 09, and I paid an extra $1700 for lifetime bumper to bumper with a $100 deductible. It started at about $3000 for 6 years, and I just kept telling him it wasn't worth it, I could fix anything on that car myself for less than that. He came down to 2300, and then finally 1700 and extended it to lifetime before I caved in.

Does anyone know if you have to purchase these warranties when you get the car or can you get it later? Also can you get them from any dealer or do you have to get it where you bought the car?

You can buy it from any authorized jEEp dealer. I'm currently shopping around myself and was told it's best to buy it on the last day or two of the month (the "quota" thing). The finance guy said you can buy at anytime prior to your new car warranty running out, although I was told there is a pro-rated surcharge that gets higher the longer you wait. Cheers.

I just got the Chrysler MaxCare Lifetime with $100 deductible for $1665 after shopping around. The cheapest place I found:

www.chryslerwarrantys.com

I checked up on them and the site is run by Topor Dodge in Chicopee MA and they are an authorized Dodge Dealer so it's legit.

TIP:
Don't buy it right away after you get to the price page. If you wait a day or so, they'll send you a promo code via email for an additional discount. At least they did with me.
