Lately on few occasions I have experienced problems with starting the engine of my 2007 2.4L engine. When I start it in the morning it fires up the engine right away. But when I shut down the engine run over to the store and come back in few minutes the engine at times won't start. It will crank all right but it won't start. It almost feels like there is no spark coming out or no fuel is being injected . When this happenes then I wait just few more minutes. I always have to depress the gas pedal a little and then I pray for the engine to start and usually after 3 - 4 attempts it does. I wonder if anybody of you has had simmiiar problem. Thanks.

I've seen a problem like this in a Vw and it was a dirty fuel pump fuel filter...

more info

milage is 70 000 miles , spark plugs were changed at about 50 000 miles , and then when engine starts it works like swiss watch, never misfires and works very well

I have this issue too! Any one have any other concrete ideas about what it might be. First time it happened i thought my patriot was dead and i was going to have to get a tow. It has to crank a couple times and takes a couple minutes and it will eventually start up. Its a little embarrassing when it happens at the gas station. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
My battery is original. I have 92k miles

More info please. How many miles? Is the battery original? When were the spark plugs changed last?
I initially thought plugs too tjn. I have seen plugs so old that the electrode was so gapped that it wouldn't fire all the time. Yours don't sound sound near old enough for that sort of issue.

Sounds like the problem I had in a 2002 Liberty- 4 cyl, manual trans. Started right up first thing in the AM, no problems starting after work. But re-starting after a quick shut-down was embarrassing. Had to keep my foot into the gas just so to keep from stalling. A mechanic said maybe the ignition coil, so I replaced that myself. It helped but didn't solve the issue. I then read online about some Jeeps having a computer glitch if the battery has recently run dead for whatever reason.. .lights left on, radio, whatever. My battery had run out recently so I disconnected the battery for just like 5 minutes, reconnected, and problem solved.
