Here in the province of Quebec, Canada, till april 30th, there's an incentive from D-C. for the Patriot 2007. Get a 4.9% interest rate on a 3 years financing. How does this compare to USA incentives?:)

In the U.S. there are no incentives offered by DCX on the Patriot because there are so damn few of them around.:( Any incentives that are offered in the U.S. would be a dealer buy down of the rate.

mannn if I could afford to finance a patriot over 3 years.... I wouldn't be buying a patriot. lol :)

and 4.9 at 36 is pretty horrible for the automobile industry financing, 4.9 for 60 months is only average on new vehicles..

Only if there is a manufacturer buy down. New car rates are running in the 7-8% range for A1 credit directly from banks and mid 6% range is the best from a dealer for five year notes. eLoan tends to be the best and they were at 6.35 last week. Rates are much higher than a couple of years ago. These are for simple interest notes. Notes where the interest is front loaded may be a little lower.

< --- Canadian. :)

Changes things a bit, prime is 6%, unsecured car loans usually anywhere from 7.5 up, and secured lines little lower, and we don't really have places like eloan to deal with. :) , usually the car finance company is the way to go.

Interesting. What is the VAT tax? I wonder if the rates are being held below market to counter the tax rate. Not Knocking but it is a different system and we cannot directly compare interest rates.

no VAT per se in Canada like the rest of North America, Province either have GST and PST(federal and provincial) or HST(harmonized) GST is 6% and PST can vary by province.

We also pay a little bit more than US for vehicles, even after the currency conversion, thats why for some models, such as the 350z it can be worth it to drive down and buy one, even barring importing costs which would include GST or HST , possibly a small duty charge and an admin cost for licensing etc, plus any safety changes to meet canadian standards. ie DRL's.

But yeah the US loan market is massive compared to us so it is very hard to compare.

The dealer offered me 7.9% (60) and my credit union offered me 7.35% (60) When my khaki 4/2 Limited is delivered, I'll ask the dealer to match the 7.35 of the credit union. If they won't, I'll go to the credit union and come back with a check a few hours later - no problem.

I'm in NYC Metro area and got 6.29 for 3 yrs. from my credit union. still waiting to see what the dealer will offer. should take del. next week as the truck was shipped 4/11. might wait till the following week to see if DC offers any incentives, although i doubt it.

This is a bit of a purchase decision. We like the Escape a lot, but are leaning patriot because of the style and fuel efficiency.

Unfortunately, Escape is offering 1.9% for 2008 models for 4 years. Pat has nothing. It may not make the difference, but it does entice you on the Escape a bit more.

If Ford can offer it on a significantly redesigned new 2008 Escape, hopefully Jeep will offer something similar soon on the Pat in the next month or so.

What are the current incentives on the Compass?

In making your financial cost comparison between the Escape and the Patriot have you factored in the cost saving in gas (better MPG rating for the Patriot)? How about resale value? (I suspect that the Escape's value will drop like a rock after 4 years) What about build quality and reliability?
(hard to tell with the Patriot, but there should be some historical data for the Escape)

When you divide the difference (if there is any) by the number of years you expect to own the vehicle, the "per year" difference will probably be very small.

When I buy a new vehicle, I buy it because I'm going to drive it. I don't buy it because of a good interest rate. A good interest rate is not going to help me enjoy driving the vehicle day-in and day-out.

I'm not being critical of your thought process, but I wanted to offer a different perspective. If you are on a tight budget, I recommend leaving off an option or two from the Patriot to make up the difference if the Patriot is a vehicle that you want.

RE: Ford Escape.
The Ford Escape is a nice vehicle and was on my list as well. Trying to compare costs using an interest buy down, however, is faulty. The Escape is an older design that has not mechanically changed to any significant degree since its introduction in 2001. You do need to run it with the v6 as the 4 in inadequate. The front brakes wear out prematurely so expect to have brake service at between 20 -25k in normal traffic with an automatic. That appears to be the only mechanical fault common to them. If you are doing any off-roading I would not consider the Escape. It has very little ground clearance.

Oh, I understand. I guess all I'm saying is that if DCX were to offer some type of incentive, it surely would be a nice little help :)
They are offering incentives on the Compass but sorry no deal on the Patriot. Unfortunately the supply / demand is not yet in balance.

6.49

Just found the Patriot I wanted and bought it over the phone.

6.49% for 48 months

I am in Columbia, SC and the Patriot is in Manassas, VA.

Went to 2 dealers here and they couldn't be bothered to order me one, so used the advanced search on the Jeep website (500 mile radius) and found this one.

They were supposed to try a swap with Manassas today and call me, NEVER DID. So i called up there this afternoon and asked if anyone tried to call about it, they said no, so just bought it over the phone so no one else could get it before I have a chance to go get the thing.

I drive OTR truck, so am only home on the weekend. (Wasted the last 4 weekends at the Jeep dealers here, they know NOTHING about their products. All the info is on THIS SITE) Will go get it next Saturday.

Loaded Limited 4x4, Green/Beige, CVT, Sunroof, NAV, Sirius, Ipod Integration, CTV, OWL, UConnect.

Pretty much everything. $27,285 sticker (OUCH) They dealt a little :) Not much though.

Will put up pics next week.

Congrats Alex! What a shame that you had to go through that nonsense to get one. But trust me... once it is sitting in your driveway, the hassles will be a distant memory. Kinda like childbirth, or so I'm told. ;)
