what rattles? have you gone back to the dealer for a repair? if you have what was the out come? if you do take it back to the dealer you can request a ride with the tech to point out what and where you are hearing the noise.
Just do not dog the Jeep and not give any info about what is wrong, details, details, details. The more info you give the more help you will get in return.
Tom
P.S. welcome the the board-not being hard on you, but, I and we have no clue to you problem.

:icon_rolleyes:Well, you have more "whine" than all of France... :blah:I just looked at your all of your posts on this site. I would bet YOU DON'T EVEN OWN ONE! Every post you put on this PATRIOT ENTHUSIST site is a FLAME! I call your bluff FLAMER, how about a pic of your thin sheet metal squeaky vehicle that you paid cash for? One that shows you with your pride and joy, oops I mean embarrassment...
Now where is that pesky ignore button, or better yet, Hey Wade why not dump this poser

Well, if you are indeed an owner with valid concerns I apologize. It is just that most people don't come on this site the way you did. The comments about asian cars, Lee Iococca laughing at the patriot are very broad statements that will cause many folks to see something to get upset about.
So basically it seems your posts are half made up of specific concerns that many people have talked about on here on numerous occasions on an individual basis (but I haven't seen anyone raise ALL the concerns) and the other half of your post is made up of broad volitile stereotypical comments that serves to enflame attitudes and nothing else.
When I do the math it just doesn't compute. Why did you by the car if you don't like it? You did test drive it right?

When I test drove it, it felt awesome. Nice seats. I just don't think that a car with 1000 miles should sound like it's falling apart already. I already had the clockspring replaced. The roof sheet metal flexes like a sheet of cardboard. Have you noticed how thin the sheet metal is? Maybe other cars are the same but it seems weird.

I haven't noticed any flexing in my 07, and before you think Asiasn cars these days are so much better, check out those tailgates, the folding FJs, the CRV picture that was posted with the spare tire well full of what, the fact that Motorweek and Car and Driver have both gotten 07 and 08 Hondas with bad AC systems (Car and Driver had a fit the AC leaked on and the Motorweek Accord didn't work at all the first time they used it). If you have a Patriot with these issues, take it back to the dealer and get it fixed. No company makes a perfect car, though some poeple incorrectly think all Asian cars come of made of titanium, has force fields and inertial dapners, gets 1000 MPG running on water with with Febreze freshness coming out of the tailpipe......

hmmm...clockspring, oh the part that connects to the flux capacitor, as for squeeky seats, thats a good one, theres nothing in them really that could generate a squeek, i smell fish;)...or the smell of a childlike forum troll;)

The dash rattles, the clutch pedal squeeks, the seats squeek. This car has less than 1000 miles on it. American workers should be embarrassed by this junk.
What???...No flapping hood?.....no clicking steering wheel when you turn?....no sore arm from the arm rests?.....inside the vehicle nice and dry?....moulding around the windshield nice and firm and not lifting?..

You got off easy!!!!

a snake. No wonder Chrysler LLC is on the verge of collapse. I should have stuck with an Asian Vehicle. These American cars are junk. Lee Iacocca laughs at the Patriot.
But does it have as many rattles as the Honda Accord I disposed of when I bought my patriot? I doubt it.

BTW, I have had mine 14 months with 36000 miles so far. While that is still essentially 'new', this is still shaping up to be one of the best vehicle I have ever owned.

well,
if you like, you can do the logical first.

write down all your issues and take them to the dealer.
give them a chance to "put it right".

if there are still issues, and you are totally unhappy, move on.

trade it
sell it
get it out of your mind.

i have had one issue so far.
the hood flapping. dealer adjusted.

so far....it has been a problem free vehicle.

I'm still on track to buy an '09 Patriot for myself but can't let this crack on an Accord slip by. My wife has an '04 Accord, 4 cylinder-honestly, it's been a flawless vehicle. So yeah, the original poster is here to stir things up, but let's not go so far as to suggest Accords are rattling pieces of junk. Everytime someone points out a potential flaw or dislike of the Patriot, the import bashing crew has to take center stage. It is possible to own both a quality domestic and import vehicle.

I agree the Patriot does not have the same fit/finish as many others in its class. No one can argue with that.

BUT.....

  • Comparable SUVs do not have the offroad capabilities the Patriot does
  • Those concerned about fuel economy will prefer the Patriot
  • The price is $10,000-$15,000 less than its competition

Now if you prefer a nice interior and concerned about fit/finish, perhaps a Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4 ect. are for you.

Yes that may all be true. But your Patriot will be merrily rolling down the road squeaking, banging, flapping and leaking long after that Honda, Toyota or Nissan has completely rusted away and returned to the Earth.

I never said that Accord's are "rattling pieces of junk". I said my Accord ('03 V6 Coupe) had more rattles that any other car that I had ever been in. That car was a rattling piece of junk!

It had a squeak (Ok, not rattle but a squeak) under the dash that the dealer finally finally fixed the fifth time I asked them to. It also had a very annoying rattle in the rear side curtain air bag area, which the dealer decided was not their responsibility because a neighbor kid on a bicycle left me a scratch on the rear bumper. I finally fixed that one by placing a shower (tension) rod across the rear deck. There were several others, but these were the two that could not be drowned out by turning up the stereo.

Every time someone complains about the quality of the patriot, they usually indicate that they wish that they had bought an import, as this guy did. My Honda was not imported, it was assembled in Ohio, but it was a Japanese brand, and it was a horrible vehicle.

BTW, I have also had several Toyota's that were essentially flawless.
