Hello there all,

So I ordered my Jeep Green Patriot this past Monday. Now all I have to do is wait for it to come.

A quick question, I ordered the Stick, but when I took a test drive they only had a CVT. How does the Patriot shift?

I'm very excited for this car, it is the first I've ever bought.

How does it shift?
  1. Release accelerator pedal
  2. depress clutch
  3. move gear shift to desired gear position
  4. release clutch
  5. depress accelerator

Seriously though, congratulations on your choice of vehicles and color.

I love my 5 speed. I know the shifter looks like it comes out of the dash at an odd angle, but it falls right in your hand, and moves in the normal 'H' pattern. It is very smooth, and shifts lightly. You will not be disappointed. Clutch effort is normal, light due to the 4 cyl.

Also, mine arrived at the dealer 17 days after I ordered it--it helps to be close to the factory in Belvedere IL. Expect a fairly quick arrival!

Post pics asap...

The clutch is very nice and pretty forgiving. Linkage is good and quick. Light years ahead of my Wrangler. Do have to be careful as the engine is very quiet and you need to keep an eye on the clutch engage point. The emergency takes a little getting used to if you use it for starting off on hills.

Two things I am finding. Both when shifting fast. The engine kicks up about 200 rpms on upshift. I think the computer controls the throttle response and it just has a moment delay when you lift off the gas and depress the clutch. I also notice that the linkage gives a "thunk" noise when pushed into the next gear. Neither idiosyncrasy is a problem.

Zikes, welcome aboard and don't be upset by anything one of us types. I have typed several notes I would like to take back. Enjoy your new Patriot!

If you can't take a very light joke then maybe this isn't the right place for you Mr. Zikes von Serious

Never take anything seriously on the boards. I'm a veteran of several message boards and it's hard to convey emotions jokes, and sarcasms at times. Give us another chance. You'll find alot of helpful tips and information on here.
If someone chooses to take an obviously light-hearted pun and sincere welcome as an insult and then sulk like a spoiled child, they are free to do that.

I know and I'm not going out of the way to make him stay. All I'm asking is the poster give the boards another chance. As I said it's hard to judge emotions on the board.

After all, Zikes might have mis read the post, didn't scroll down all the way to see your just kidding. Or was having a bad day is took it too personally.
