Looks like Larson in Puyallup is my next stop. My lady friend has some type of auto trans, maybe a six-speed. She likes it, but I sort of doubt it will ever see any off-road. And - I think I saw one today with a "3.7" label on it! I could be mistaken, or Jeep may be putting in the V-6 from the now-defunct Liberty. Seems like this guy may be catching on around here after all.

Good luck. Come back and give an update.

Well, it seems dealers' web sites are a little misleading. Stopped by the dealer today ($5 to cross the Narrows!) and they didn't have a 4x4. They had 2 FWD's, one auto and one manual, and about 50 Wranglers! Once I got the rep's mind right (Wranglers on the mind!) we looked at those two. I am impressed! KBB, Edmunds, etc are way off base. The Patriot is everything I want, and nothing I don't - i.e., no TV screen trying to tell me how to drive, no radar systems beeping, no TV camera showing me how to back up, no auto parallel parking system, and no brakes locking up when I try to pull up next to my M/C to deter theft. I find all the late-model gadgety vehicles to be an EXTREME insult to my intelligence! Call me a control freak, but I like to drive, not to be taken for a ride by some engineer's concept of "cool".

Yep, that's the way to go. With crank windows, manual locks, and not so much as cruise control, it's basically a very much slower, American, off-road version of the McLaren F1. All about the drive.
