What does anyone think about sticking a chrome Jeep emblem in the centre of a Hood/Bug Deflector? Ive had my Mopar deflector installed onto the front of my hood - I like the look but kinda miss the original look of the lip with its chrome Jeep emblem. The only concern I have is trying to "mold" the adhesive emblem along the curves of the deflector... and have it stay on for a long time... Unless they sell other chrome decals in a sticker form rather than 3D. I think it'd look good.

i don't know why they did not put jeep in white on the corner of the bug shield, like they did with the mopar side window vents?
you can clearly see 'JEEP" on the bug shield, moulded in black.

Ya know I actually had to look for the Jeep logo on the deflector believe it or not... before I bought it I thought it would be in the centre. Anyhow, I even thought of colouring it in with a silver felt or something. I believe other aftermarket companies clearly mark theirs to advertise themselves...wonder why Jeep wouldnt...

Moreover...til this day, still get majority of the bugs on the windshield - bug deflector, spotless :p They just wouldn't fly a tad bit lower eh!

Why do you even need a Jeep logo there at all. I mean, hell you have a 7 slot grill. Everyone knows that's a Jeep. I mean maybe you might get an occasional dumbass who can't tell a Jeep for an H3 or something.

My new deflector has lowered my bug collection by about 90%. I noticed when installing it that the angle of the deflector above the hood depends on where you put the screws. I arranged mine so the deflector had a fairly high angle. If yours in low and close to the hood, it wouldn't be as effective.

Re: the Jeep logo. To make it more prominent, how about some careful work on the backside with silver paint? To test how effect it would be, try taping a little bit of aluminum foil back there.

Do bug deflectors really work well enough to offset how bad they look? I have always thought a removable one that folds in half, that could be used at night or on the highway would be a good idea. Then I could take it off when I'm in town or during the day when there aren't many bugs around.

neilcrichton - thanks for the tips. Its a good idea indeed. I'll see what I'll end up going with... though by the time I actually get around into doing it, it'll be winter time already!

About the bug thing, I'm also gonna try the bug shield spray-on thing... at least it'll make it easier to wash off afterwards. I wonder if a raised deflector might effectively affect the hwy fuel mileage as well?

i removed my chrome front,

I didnt like the idea of the emblems being the only thing "chrome".

I would want removal and installation to be a finger and not a tool based operation. I designed in my head for my old Cadillac, a folding bug screen for highway use. I had planned to make small receivers under the bumper like mini trailer hitches to hold the screen. However, my use of the Cad has decreased to the point where I never made the bug screen. Maybe I'll check it out again for the Patriot. It would be about half as big and would easily store under the rear cargo floor on top of the tire.
