Hello folks! Although I am not an owner (yet?) I am very interested in purchasing a new rig. I currently own and operate a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo with stick shift. Well...I'm getting tired of a shifting the stick. I turned 40 last year, and well, it's time for an automatic. I've been searching for several months for a new vehicle and sat in one of these rigs back in Jan during the local auto show. It was pretty nice, and I loved how deep the floors were in the back. Anyway, my requirements for a new rig are: Auto tranny, great mileage, sunroof, decent price, and any and all luxories I can get, like heated seats, deep tint windows (none of which my Rodeo has..). Since I've been searching for several months I keep coming back to the Patriot as a vehicle what will fit the bill quite nicely. Oh, I've no kids, but I have two Beagles, and I need to take them on car rides and trips to the park a few times a week (ARROOOO!).
I think a 4X4 Freedom I with drivers group would be an excellent purchase but..the local dealer hasn't received any in the color we want (metallic green) so for now, I'm Patriot-less. Does anyone here haul their dogs around in their new rig? If so, is it dog friendly? How about mileage? I commute 22 miles each way (75% freeway) and am curious about your MPG's? FDI w/CVT states 26 for HWY and I am curious if anyone has seen that, exceeded that, or has yet to achieve it. I don't go around driving like Mario so I am hoping to see at least 26. We did test drive a silver one, and oh boy it was so nice with the sun roof open. I turned 40 here recently and need to treat myself to something new an am hoping to purchase one in green, and at a great price. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Otherwise, enjoy YOUR new Patriots!

We purchased Limited, CVTII, FDI in early February. 25 mile commute from country to small city. Commute is approximately 40% highway. Our commuting MPG averages 25 mpg. On an extended road trip in March we averaged 26-28 mpg on interstates (with a cargo bag on the roof rack). We've been pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the seats and handy layout of the driver and front passenger space. We frequently haul our 65 pound dog and he's had no problems. Prior to purchasing the Patriot, we considered (and test-drove) the RAV4, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Honda CR-V. We're pleased with our decision.

I drive a 4x4 Limited with CVT and FDI. I just logged my first 1,000 miles and overall I have averaged 21.5 MPG. My commute to work is entirely back roads. I don't do any expressway driving. The one highway trip we took we did get about 26mpg. Awesome vehicle.

Welcome! I've got a 2wd sport with the automatic. I've put about 500 miles on it so far and get 24 in town. I took it on it's first "road trip" this past weekend, which was 200 miles of highway driving. I kept it around 75mph and got 27mpg. I expect the mpg to go up as I put a thousand miles on it (or so.)
