So I picked up a new trailer today, nice little 4x6 with a landscape type gate so I can drive my ATV right on and right off......checked it all over, lights worked, everything moving and working like it should. I go register it (about an hour in line) come home and check all the lights again before I put it away.
Now the right signal light doesn't work. I swapped the left and right bulbs and same result so it's not the bulbs. Driving light works, but signal light doesn't.
Is this a simple thing I can fix myself? I'm going to take the light housing off and take it apart and see if there is a wire loose or somthing else that looks pooched.
I hooked my boat trailer up to make sure it wasn't the truck wiring, and it was all good.

Was the trailer made by Snowbear under the strongbox name? If so I recently picked up the same trailer and the wiring is not protected- was bare in several spots, crimped in others. I picked up some auto wiring loom, repaired all the bad spots and covered the wiring with the loom.

PS- Check all the nuts and bolts on the trailer- everyone was loose on mine.

Yessir, that's the one. Thanks for the warning....I'll give it a serious look over on the weekend.

Well, I found out the problem....green wire was cut completly through inside the tongue. Fixed it all up, put conduit over all the wire and tied up anything hanging. Should be good for ever now.
There was so many minor annoyances with this thing though that I gotta gripe.....
First off, it comes with a multi position axle....but it's in the rear most position when you get it, you have to move it to the front most position if you plan on towing anything heavy like an ATV. It also has an extendable tongue. Unfortunatly they fail to mention that the tongue has to be in the extended position in order to move the axle to the forward position. Both the axle and tongue are suppose to be user adjustable......but not unless the user is Hercules.
They make reference to "lock nuts" in the manual. What these are is just a regular nut, staked in 3 places on the sides of the nut. Basically crushing the nut on the bolt making it almost impossible to remove. I had a hell of a time taking the bolts out. An extra 10 cents for proper lock washers on Snowbears part would have been appreciated.
There is rust forming on every spot weld, I guess they weld after painting?. Nothing some spray paint won't fix, but still a pain in the ass.
The nuts on the U bolts holding the leafs to the axle were finger tight......real safe.
You basically can't move the trailer by hand if you have a license plate in the plate holder. Lift the tongue any higher then your knee and the plate hits the ground.
Every light on the trailer was installed crooked.
Other then that it's a great little trailer.......:)
