1 - I thought we were talking 17" tires not 16"?

2 - Those may be 295's but because they are 16's and also a 50 series they are not as tall. They are actually a little shorter @ 27.6" than the tock 215/65R17's are at 28".

3 - That guy is using aftermarket rims with what I wager is a non stock offset to stick them out further. It would have to be for an 11+" tire to fit. Just no way 295's, even in that 16" size, fit in there without being moved outward at that width. Not happening.

You left some key info out. :D

1.i said i didn't remember the rest of the specs.
2.i'm comparing to 215/60/17,as this was my stock size.
3.of course the combo between width and hight is important.
4.i never said you could fit those on oem rims.maybe you could with spacers.
anyway,that pat looks different.can't say i like it,i guess i wouldn't go as far as 295 on a 16 rim.
a 265 would be wide enough imo.

I think our issue is I am talking strictly stock rims and no mods( lift/spacers )while you are just talking in general and taking mod's and non stock rims into account without specifying them in your comments. We are both right.

you are correct.
what are your thoughts on those 295's?

Never been a fan of the tire sticking outside of the wheel wells. Looks awful IMO plus it throws rocks and crap all up the side of your vehicle. I also think all that extra rolling resistance and weight of the 295's would raise hell with a CVT long term. I think it would strain what is a weak link in the vehicle.

I like my 225/65R17's. They fill up the wheel well just right, don't stick out, and they are not over taxing the drivetrain.

Update: I ended up going with Michelin Latitude X ice Xi2 tires at a size of 225 65 R17. They work great and I'm glad to have them as we have been having an intense winter here in Nova Scotia. I get some rub at full turns but this is rare. I think I will go for the Yokohama Geolander for regular all season tires.

Cheers!

I noticed that now tire rack lists the Pirelli Scorpion ATR in 225 65 R17 now as well. That listing wasn't there back in the summer. Those tires come stock on the new Ford F-150's with off road package (different size). My brother has one and so far has said the tires are good enough that he will probably buy the same to replace them. No personal experience of my own with those tires, but another option is a good thing.
