I had ordered the cruise control from an eBay seller even before I got the car. Already on the test drive I had decided the gas pedal would be tiring on longer journeys so I wanted cruise control. Last Thursday my car finally arrived and on Sunday I started my first mod. Under the hood I checked that the connector already had wires going to the proper pin locations, so I figured my '08 was prewired.

Inside I took the steering wheel off, bolted the cruise control on and put everything back together. After reconnecting the battery I started the engine and pushed the lever: "Cruise" lit on the dash! After a test drive I was assured everything was in working order, even the clutch had the switch pre-installed so no problems there either. It took me an hour from unlocking the car to washing my hands. Now I would do it in fifteen minutes. The instructions were clear, only the Torx 30 screws were T25 in real life, but I did manage that.

I paid USD200+ for the control, some more for shipping to Finland and local customs and taxes. The money was well spent. Recommended!

P.S. The wire bundle that goes inside the steering wheel had an extra two wire connector on both ends. Does anyone know what it is for?

Wasn't that just too easy. I was happy and surprised with how easy it was. As for the 2 wires, I had them left over as well. My guess is that they are for the steering wheel controls for the radio which I don't have.

The extra wires are for the radio controls. BTW, I wonder why your 2008 Patriot is pre-wired and mine isn't? I had to order a $34 harness. :(

My '08 wasn't pre-wired either. But since everything came in the mopar kit it wasn't a big deal.

The European cars have different wiring (the lights and esp. turn signals are different). Maybe there is only one European (or export) wiring?

My kit came with full length wire bundle to reach the engine compartment, pins for the connectors and even straps for attaching the bundle. I discarded all of those (and the beige plastic steering wheel cover).

I have a UK Jeep Patriot. 2007 Sport, 2.0 CRD. Do you know if this is suitable for my model? Would mine be pre-wired? Also what happens to the warranty of the vehicle if you add things to it?

I have never messed around with cars before and would hate to break anything.

Can anyone help?
