Sometimes I just feel like a complete fool. These folks in the car dealerships talk way too fast and at the end of their oratorical performance I just get a pure feeling of confusion.
For instatnce today .My sales guy calls me at work on my cell and tells me all excited that my car will be ready in couple of weeks and adviced me to get my financing ready. And yes,he gave me the VIN number and that also means I can order finally the door molding from the spare parts department.I was happy to hear that news but reminded him that the financing can be negotiated during the last couple days before the car pick up."oh now",he says to me."You have to take care of the financing much much sooner".
So I called the money guru and the money guy tells me the car is only going to be manufactured in couple of weeks and so the delivery date may be 3 or even 4 weeks away and then he informed me that yes,we can do the financing in the last few days before pick up.
And so I managed to get to the 3rd professional at this Ontario dealership [supposly a man who overlooks the order status] and he told me that my car is being manufactured as we speak but sometimes it takes a day and other times it can take 4 days to manufacture the car.And the shipping takes about 10 days and so the total wait time may be 2 - 3 weeks.
When I asked him for the order production code he wasn't sure what I'm talking about.
I tell you I have had just about enough with these sweet talkers. They love to talk. They will sell the tulip bulbs to the Dutchman but when one needs a serious and reliable information from these smooth talkers there is no clear answer from them.No wonder they have such a bad reputation.
The one that was selling me the car even pulled a pendant cross from under his shirt and kept convincing me of his honesty. What a clown.Yes,at the end I bought the car from the clown and now I'm starting to feel like a clown myself.

Sorry to hear about the hassles and run-around but we really shouldn't be surprised. Car salesmen worked very hard to earn the reputation they have. ;)

Seriously, how did things get so topsy-turvy that the market for a major purchase is riddled with sleazeballs and the consumer risks losing $1000's to these snakes... and yet I can walk into a supermarket and be guaranteed of a straightforward purchase of a $0.95 cantaloupe.

Just curious what you mean by order production code? Why not call the Chrysler 1-800 number to get you status. I am in Canada and have been keeping tabs on mine through the US number. They even gave me my VIN, the dealer gave me the VON when he submitted the order.

I also did my financing when I placed my order. Are you financing through the dealer?

I got the VIN number only today.I called the 1 800# last week but they couldn't help me without the VIN # so that's why.But I surely will call tomorrow.
I did talk to my sells guy many times over the five weeks since I ordered the car [who knows when the delarship sent in the order] but I never got anywhere with him and so I just patiently waited and waited realizing that by pushing these "professionals" I won't achieve much.

Some sales people are good. Some are not. Think of it as the second oldest profession.

You salesman is a big fat LIAR. You can do the financing any time or place you want. Even the day of the sale. Since you ordered the Patriot, your dealer wil have a bill of sale. You can have the salesman fax it to the bank or credit union of your choice and they will cut you a check to take to the dealer. Of course, wait till the car is before you do that, but you can approved much sooner.
