I know this is totally a scam but I'd really like to have these "chips" tested somehow or another just to see if they do anything whether it be positive or negative.

All this thing does is fools the air intake temp sensor into thinking the air coming in is cooler than it is which makes the ecu advance the timing and add fuel. It probably does add a couple of HP maybe but by adding more fuel (all the time with this installed now mind you) there is now way your mpg would increase.

i was stupid enough to buy one of these for my 2000 neon a few years ago. Before installing it I asked my mechanic friend waht he thought of it and he laughed at me for spending money on it then we proceeded to smash open the little black box part to find that it was basically hollow with a couple of wires sticking out of it.
Luckily it was only $20 or so but I learned my lesson

I always wondered, if there was a $30 chip that Jeep could install in their vehicles that increased HP and MPG by that much why wouldn't they put it in themselves? They could get an extra $10k for a car like that.

You just have to remember that auto mfg spend billions on r&d to improve gas mileage (among other things) and if there was a $30 part that would give you 272 hp and 60 mpg they would have discovered it and it would be propriatary and in every one of their vehicles.

As to testimonials, when you're selling snake oil, you write your own testimonials.

If it's a scam, you could have fooled me!

I bought sixteen of them, and daisy chained 'em together. Man what a rush!!

I started the Pat in Cleveland, and when I stepped on the gas, it took off so fast it knocked me clean out. Woke up 33 seconds later in Portland, OR, still with 3/4 of a tank of gas.

I'm putting in another 8 units this weekend, gotta visit a friend in Australia! This is gonna save me tons in airfare!:pepper:

Before returning to another field, spent 14 years traveling 5 states working the auto/truck/tire equipment business. In short was never short of expert opinions from reputable automotive dealers. At least to the point I left this business never found anything besides better…….insert name in maintenance product. For example hotter burning spark plugs, better oil, or better air handling systems. Not a one of the many many good business owners would recommend any gadgets. Ever.

Not once over the years did I find “gadget” which made much difference in MPG. Once purchased a nationally late night televised Platinum Fuel Injection Add-On in the mid 1980s. It did lighten my wallet considerably, but made no difference in my MPG. I drove close to ¾ million miles in cars over those years. But……we are in a new technological era, and as old Ross Perot used to say, am all ears if anything is out there.

I emailed the guy to ask that question (if you can stack 2) and here is his response, at least he's got a sense of humor:

"More like 800 HP.. ;-) Kidding..

In real world conditions, you'll see less. As an example, on my Cadillac DeVille DTS, I gained around 23 HP on the dyno and about 5-6 MPG on the highway (which I've received many feedbacks stating the same amount of MPG gains!)

Thank you,
MindBlower Performance

P.S. You cannot stack these on a car.. at least I've never tried it.. ;-)"
