Part of the Thank You Canada campaign: Patriots starting under $15k CAN.
Hey Booster. My Parents are about ready to pull the trigger on a base base base Pat, manual, 2WD etc.
They will be using it to tow a small trailer and camp with.
Anyhoo, they have test drove it and will be buying in a day or so, they asked me to double check to make sure they are getting a fair deal.
The base is
$16,999
-$1000 PST Rebate in BC
-$1000 Federal Eco rebate
-$2250 Bonus Cash from Chrysler (Thank-you Canada?)
+$1200 Destination
+Tire and Battery Levies
+GST/PST
They were quoted an out the door of $17,020. (after saying no thanks to nitrogen filled tires amongst other things)
Now, the way I see it, sure that is inexpensive for a new vehcile. But there is no dealing coming from the store itself. What do you think is reasonable to ask for in terms of "haggling" so that both parties get a fair shake?
P.S. They will be paying with cash.

Best time to buy is whenever your ready
No matter what others tell you
Not much better saving 1K because you bought in may if your strugglling to cover a downpayment
As for cash/financing
Don't let them know you are paying cash until you have an agreed to price in writing
They make more if they finance and gives them room for a lower sales price if they think they are making money off the financing
Best salesman is superman "clark craig" at scarsview. He can give you the lowest quote (on the road) and guarantee in writing when you see him. I phone 50 other dealerships in Toronto and even visited a few who advertised on the Toronto Star/Sun and found he gave me the best deal (This was back in January). I'm sure that the price would be even lower due to the dealer incentives.
I agree with most of what you are saying. I am assuming, however, that if you are asking about a price that you are serious about buying, and that now is a good time for that person to buy. Always buy when you are ready and, more importantly, can afford it.
As for the cash or finance option, the price that you may get off, especially on a Patriot, which have very low mark ups, is minimal. If you think you can get a better deal by doing it this way, give it a shot, but most dealers and reps will be able to determne pretty accurately if you are a payment or a cash buyer. In my opinion, better to be honest and straight up...Just a thought. If you can not trust the person that you are buying the car off of, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

So printing out the PDF document is no good. Then I guess it can only be used as a negociating tool?
I am asking as I am very interesting in getting a Patriot 2008.

If I read the fine print correctly the offer is only good if you actually have received the officiel offer in the mail ("Only this original certificate or other original, official program document issued by Chrysler Canada Inc, and containing the name of of the authorized recipient will be honoured.").
So printing out the PDF document is no good. Then I guess it can only be used as a negociating tool?
I am asking as I am very interesting in getting a Patriot 2008.
