Saw the replacement shift knob on the Mopar site, I think it looks good. Does anyone have one installed, and is there any pitfalls that I should look out for? Thanks in advance...Craigman

Looked at the pics of the shift knob, I'll have to go to the dealer, and take a look, from the pics on the Jeep.com site, it looks the same as mine...I think the billet shifter looks way cooler, but that might just be the kid in this 45 year old body...haha...Craigman

^^That's the same one that came in ours and I love it. Although we have a base model it came with some weird add-ons, like this knob for instance.

my 2008 Pat came with the same one that "trainerbyday" has.

Another question..how is it that the shifter on the website is taller. I was at the dealer lately, and happened to take a peek in a Compass that was in line for an oil change..the whole shift assembly was almost twice as tall as the stock one..it looked just like the pic on the Mopar website, anyone have any info on this?? Cheers, Craigman

With the auto FD1 you can actually use any manual shift knob, seeing as there is no push in like in a reg. automatic. The bottom screws off and then the top comes off.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT

what "Mopar Site" and what 'Knob' are you talking about?

i have an 07 Compass Sport CVT that has "Jeep" on the top of the knob with Allen Head look-a-like screws around the chrome top. is THAT the one you mean or simply the Mopar Accessory Billet Knob? don't have it in front of me, but i believe the pic in the Accessory Catalog is that of a Caliber, not an "MK". the billet knob is 'generic' and will fit both "PM" and "MK" platforms.

if you're looking for the one like on MY Compass, they are 'dirt cheap' and can be ordered through your dealer.:)
