ok, so i see alot of times on ebay where they are selling a cheap "chip" or w/e for most of the cars out, yes there is one for the patriot and im sure its a scam but i just wanted to know more cause it says adds up to 20 mpg and 60 hp..

Save your money for a tank of fuel. Likewise for anythign that says it will increase fuel economy. If it were realyl possible for a vehicle to make such improvements, the OEM would have doen it. They have far more money to make by selling more powerful and fuel efficient vehicles than some Ebay loser.

It just a bunch of horse hockey. It's as APT says. The OEMs would climb all over better gas mileage if it were true. When I read something like that I think of fortune tellers. If I was a fortune teller, I mean a real fortune teller, I would be spending my whole day at the racetrack rather than trying to entice suckers, er I mean customers.

This is just "smoke and mirrors!"

Another thing...if you live in a county/state that requires frequent smog checks, these will cause your vehicle to be listed as a "gross polluter" and it does take time and effort to remove it from that category.

I believe like the rest of the posters--if it really made that big a difference, the manufacturer would have done it. Heavy Detroit iron may benefit for power--again due to the "de-rating" for CA smog and others. The latter isn't concerned about MPG, just HP!

ok.. you got me....
I got a pretty bad sinus issue going on right now.
I was 3 hrs late to work (on purpose cause I wanted to sleep in), and my head is screaming for another 3 hrs of sleep.......

Me too. My head has been killing me for 3 days now. In fact, to show you how much it affected my thinking...
As I was reading through these posts, I didn't even catch the double negative at first. (well, either I blame the plugged-up sinuses or I admit to becoming senile..take your pick)

Quasi, your anecdote reminded me of one just like that from long ago:
A middle school teacher tells her students that the word SUGAR was the only word in the English language that has the "SH" sound while spelled with SU. A student raised his hand and asked "Are you sure?" :D
