Has anyone noticed any issues that we Patriot owners should keep an eye out for? The cars are relatively pretty new to the roads so they have not really been truly tested yet. Yes, I know a few of you have put some massive miles on it but I have not read anything from owners with more than 40K which is still low.

Matzer,

Lack of responses by no means there are no issues... Read deeper into many of the messages of the forums and you'll discover threads about the "Flapping Hood", the "Leaking Sunroof", the Leaking Dome Light", "Squeaks", "Hisses", & the elusive "Flaking Paint".

Personally, (knock on wood) I have not had the misfortune of experiences any of this calamities. That does not mean these problems don't happen. But please understand, for every negative post about a problem, there are easily, IMHO, hundreds who haven't had that problem but don't post about "how well their hood doesn't flap, etc.

Not on my vehicle. Built February of 08. Hood fits nice and tight. No leaking of any kind. Manual transmission synchronizes as it should into 3rd gear. Gets the mileage stated on the window sticker or better.

The wind did take the door out of my hand the other day when I opened it and bent it so it wouldn't shut correctly. I was able to hang on the door and bend it back. I wouldn't fault the car for it. We don't usually get a 40 MPH sustained wind with gusts to 55. However, I do think the tension on the door 1st/center stop spring could be stronger.

squeaky creaking front suspension

now I have grinding chattering noise on light throttle drive thats either transmission related or possibly steering though I don't know if they have rack or a steering box.

not impressed with less than 4k miles covered

have 22,090 miles as of this am and i have yet to have any issues thus far.

Just under 13,000 miles, bought extended warranty, 2 checkups so far, no problems to report. Observation on a minor level is when I have a passenger (which isn't often) in the front seat it squeeks a little but no big deal.

I've put 500 miles on my patriot so far and its not a bad vehicle. Not really happy with the crappy plastic interior. Its just so low class plastic. I never knew what a leather wrapped steering wheel would make such a huge difference. Oh well!

The Patriot is an awesome truck. I want to purchase the chrome bumper thingeys. I saw the door plates on sale for like $150 for the 4 doors. Kinda pricey!

Also, the mats are so cheap! Go to Sams Club and buy nice heavy duty mats for $20 and cut to size.

17,000 miles on my 2007 and a couple small issues:

- I have is the squeaky front suspension, which started about 2000 miles ago.
- Rattle in the dashboard, from pretty much first week of ownership
- Passenger front window sometimes creaks when rolled up to full close. It only creaks AFTER it has been fully closed, for just a split second. Almost like the window motor pushes it up too far, and the window moves down just a fraction after the motor turns off.

Other than that... love it!

It seems response here is pretty positive, but I am not very happy with the quality on mine at 2,500 miles. The best thing is the gas mileage. I'm getting 23 city; 25+ highway w/ 2.4 CVT2.
1) Rattle in headliner by dome light - fixed by dealer
2) Poor fitting dash panel by driver's side (windshield) speaker - dealer tried to fix by replacing dash cover but made no difference.
3) Rattle from speedo/gauge cluster area.
4) Fingerprints on inside of gauge cluster.
5) Loose shifter - dealer says they all are like that; not true; I went to another one on lot and it was fine.
6) Very noisy Good Year tires from day 1. Dealer rotated front tires to back and it helped, but not much.
7) Loud intermittent "pop" from front end. May be suspension, body, or engine/trans mounts. Dealer can't figure this out yet.
8) Idle seems rough in 'Drive' at a stop. Can even see hood and passenger headrest shaking. If I put in 'Neutral' it smooths out fine. Dealer says they are all like this, but I am not convinced.
9) Fuel Gauge sticks.
Hopefully, mine is an uncommon example. I have had 3 Jeeps in the last 10 years and they are progressively getting worse in quality from my experience. I think I am done with Chrysler....

This is a Pat purchased in early March '07, door sticker indicates it was born in Jan. '07. Really have been no issues with this rig other than one factory issue.
The driver's door was hung wrong and was clicking against fender right at the crease/roll in the door and fender. You couldn't hear this or notice it until we got it home and in the garage. The door was "out" at the top hinge, just enough to rub the paint off. Dealer repaired it better than new.
I have had more issues with my '06 Grand Cherokee by a long ways.

There are two notable issues with the 5-speed manual transmission discussed on the Engine and Drivetrain forum.

The most serious is a gear clash problem due to faulty 3rd/4th/5th & reverse gear synchros on Patriots built prior to February 2, 2008. Chrysler/Jeep has issued service bulletion #21-011-08 on this problem. I notice today that links to this document in the "5-Speed Issues ?" thread are no longer working but your dealer should have it.

Also check out the "Manual Transmission Whine Problem" thread. Chrysler is claiming that this noise is normal but I believe its a design or a manufacturing defect as my '08 patriot 5-speed 4x2 has this whine and its too damn loud to be normal.

Just under 4K's (2,500mi) on my 08'....only issue is a creaky driver's seat when making turns....sounds like an old rocking chair. Very surprised & slightly disappointed to encounter this on what is essentially still a new vehicle. Will eventually bring back to dealer to have it addressed.

I have the squeaky seat. I have WD-40'd every part i can find but it still seems to squeak a bit, not bad though. Also the drivers door requires more force to shut then the others, might be off alignment a tad, but I just shut it harder and it's fine.
