I high centered my jeep over the weekend and had a little trouble getting unstuck. This is the second time I have done this and its always been a pain to get free. Anybody have any tips while getting it unstuck? I was high centered while offroading on sand, and this weekend I was stuck on rocks. Also anybody know of any damage that can occur from this? Anything I should look for that could be broken?

you'd have to look under there and see... but i'm guessing you're fine if you didn't notice anything on the drive back home

My ideas for a remedy would cost $$
i.e... lift, skid plates and sliders

actually skidplates would help it glide a little better over sand and snow. Also tow hooks and a hand winch would come in handy. I carry this little one in my spare tire area: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Come-Along-Hand-Cable-Winch/dp/B0002KMRPE[/ame]

Sand you have to shovel until the wheel(s) settle and rocks you have to pile under the wheels until you can pull yourself off.

Same things with variations for logs, rutted dirt, snow, etc. You either pile crap under the tires until they grab or you shovel crap out until the wheels gain grip.

Sometimes you barely move before you have to repeat the shovel or pile thing.

Back in the day you'd just use a jack-all, get the vehicle up as high as you could and push it off, re[peat until you were able to drive away. Nothing for a jack-all to grab onto in today's units....even the Wrangler has plastic bumpers.

If you had tow hooks in front and either a hitch or sub frame mounted hood in the rear you might be able to use a jack-all to lift the vehicle...I don't know, haven't ever tried that.

I'll tell you tho, back in the day, before I could afford a winch my jack-all saved my bacon on many occasions. I drove a CJ7 and was not afraid to put it into spots, if you know what I mean.

Rocks... Lift and stack, or pull until something gives. Get a highlift and a lift mate.

You can mount the jack to a roof rack to make it easier to carry.

Sand/snow... Stop spinning your tires. Lift again with the highlift and lift mate, add a base to the jack.

.

Throw sand back in the holes your tires had dug, if you can find sticks or wood or whatever to put on the sand, great. You can buy sand ladders to carry if you like. The overall idea though is to get more floatation on the sand/snow. Be sure to air down.

Here's a pic of someone getting some extra floatation on snow this winter. He was stuck on Rollinsville Pass from March 18th through April 8th or so. And yes.... it worked. He was able to drive it out after adding the extra tires.

When you go off road, go with another vehicle. Make sure you both have to hooks and recovery straps. Makes getting unstuck a lot faster and safer.
