purchased 2007 compass last week and am working thru problems I knew about at time of purchase. car has 103k miles with rear end noise. loud terrible (not a whine) more like a roar and on other cars I've had I would say it was a axel bearing type noise, but on this I have no idea. Noise range is constant from 30mph thr high speed. No sound change in or out of gear or 4x4 v/s 2wd. nor when making turns.
a repair manual would be helpful but to date have been unable to locate one.
Today at age 73 some of this new tech is a pain in the rear but I can still turn a wrench and will learn.
