Copper is more conductive than platinum .... however swap platinum plugs out from copper plugs and you will see zero difference in MPG, performance, emissions, etc. You are speaking of a miniscule difference in conductivity .... its not like one is trying to swap their copper plugs with wood ones.

I do and will give advice.

Copper is soft and rapidly wears down from heat/pressure. Copper does not heat at high as platinum thus fouling occurs = less MPG. That wear also causes a larger air gap thus reducing MPG as well. Platinum reduces the size of the fine wire tip thus reducing quenching and needs less voltage for the spark to jump the gap. Platinum also creates more of a complete burn thus eliminating fouling and since its so hard it is not subject to the physical wear/air gap.

I see you just have a thing for copper .... that's special. Continue to constantly replace your plugs which will equate in a higher cost and you spending much more time by performing multiple installations rather than by putting platinum (or iridium for that matter) with no increased benefits (MPG, HP, etc).

So you claim there is no benefit using one over the other which I clearly have shown otherwise, followed by disagreeing with your only argument being "because it says so in the manual", than stating I know nothing, ending with a "whatever"! Who's the one babbling now :icon_rolleyes:

The patriot per the manual specifically calls for its Japanese NGK copper plugs to be replaced every 32,000 miles. Cheapest I see em for is $12.75 for a set of 4 (3.18 each). You will replace your plugs nearly 4 times in the time the platinum's need replacement and you will spend $51.00 and three extra wasted days of changing plugs. Oh and the platinum's are on sale right now for $1.74 each ... yup that's a single $6.96 expense (Yes, the platinum's are half the cost of coppers). ;)

Oh and silver BTW is the best conducive material for spark plugs.

You babbling Tiburon driver on a Jeep Patriot Forum. Trolling for any and every debate that comes along. You're sounding like an A-Hole. You're not even in the game let alone the Park. Then again whatever blows your Skirt up.......... Sound off.

Man learn how to use image tags!

Well least we are not conversing over snakes oil ;)

I prefer cheese plugs...swiss has the best conductivity IMO....gouda is too soft

ok, ok, thanks but I don't want my build thread to be an argument one all the way through(side note: the Dixie horn hasn't been duct-taped in any way since a few weeks after I got it in spring 2012). The plugs I asked about because of a slight misfire. The reason I'm posting this now is because I'm getting ready to start the build, starting orientation/training with Werner trucking right now. Granted, not many if any Baja teams run SilentArmors, but I read an honest review on them and they sound like a good tire for the dry desert(yes, at least 6 sets because it's a RACE, Kenny). "I want to do all this stuff" list? More like, "This is what I'm getting myself into, I'm buying parts like this over the next couple years, I need input from people who have already modded this type of vehicle so I can get the best performance and suspension travel" list. And with respect to everybody's thoughts, if you're going to be a complete jerkface in conveying them, then please don't. You win more flies with honey than vinegar, eh?

Rosso, have you checked your plug gap? I noticed when I replaced mine with 4 new identical NGK V plugs, they didn't all have the same gap. They were close, but a couple were slightly off. If you have one that's way off, that could cause a problem

my dad thinks that might be it, gonna look into that and the wiring when I'm done with my company training. There's no personal vehicle parking at the terminal and there's no place else to leave it but home, so I left my Jeep in Michigan yesterday morning and took a bus(paid for by Werner) from Muskegon, MI to Springfield, OH. Good thing the hotel has complimentary wifi, I might go nuts without it, lol. At any rate, I should be back behind the wheel of my pride and joy(however temporarily) in 6-8 weeks.

ok, got the plugs gapped right(they were at 0.1 millimeter, supposed to be 0.45), the air filter installed, and exhaust bought but not quite installed. Here's some pics from the build last night:

I used to have an air filter there.....
