looking for an intake,?

alright... you finally got them to change the header of their auction from 'Grand Cherokee' to 'Patriot'

hehehe joking, thanks for the headds up

but it is the exact same auction they have listed for every other jeep intake. im sure its just me but something about that blinglights place on ebay reminds me of the automotive section at k-mart.

Honestly the cheapest way to go is just buy a K&N filter. The standard setup is good enough. These aftermarket setups that I have seen don't isolate the engine heat from the filter. I did see a K&N setup that had a heat shield around the filter and it still used the stock little plastic intake tube that sits over the battery. What I might do is keep the stock setup and just add a K&N filter. I may also try to figure out a way to modify the little plastic intake tube. Make it bigger somehow and still have it fit. Or find a better place to route it to get more airflow. I have used K&N kits, Airaid Kits and so on. They do work but I think I can do something that will work just as good and cost a lot less money.

i have the drop in filter done, i like the intake, just for the sound, i like to be diffrent!

I personally went with a K&N CAI. It works great took me about an hour and half to install going and I was taking my time. It cost only about 200 bucks and after installed gave a definate increase in performance. I would recommend it to anyone.

Now I also know many people will say that the filter clogs with dust easier than say an AEM filter. Well guess what, thats just the filter and it can be replaced with the AEM filter. It wasn't the filter that made me want to buy this it was how it installed.

What you are buying there is a universal intake. Go to autozone and grab a spectre intake tube and you'll have the same exact thing at a fraction of the cost.

I understand the desire to be different, but that doesnt mean you should be fooled!

If you do that you will need to make a heat shield to isolate the warm air in the engine bay from getting into the filter. Remember cooler air makes more horsepower.

K&N Filter

I spent a lot of time looking at the stock air intake setup and even calculating the max air velocity through the necked down section over the battery. As best I could see it was more than adequate and all I did was to add a K&N element. It works great with a noticable improvement in performance over stock.
