It is my understanding that on '10 and up models you can purchase a lifetime powertrain when buying a new patriot from the dealer.

What did you pay for your lifetime powertrain extension. I'm thinking selling my 07 and upgrading to new one and I'm particularly interested in finding out what you paid for the extension

I have the same question, and nobody seems to have an answer. I spent a ton of time researching this, and found a dealer online selling factory Mopar warranties for $2185 for the lifetime maxcare with a $100 deductible. This is likely to be what I get myself.

I know exactly what website you are talking about but if you are buying new from the dealer there is an option for just extending the powertrain to lifetime and I remember reading it was less than $1000. If you want to buy a warranty after the fact the best bet will be to go with aftermarket companies. Get a lot of quotes and make sure you check them out on the BBB page

I bought a 2013 FDII sport in January and got the lifetime bumper to bumper. I'm not sure how much the total cost is, but it raised my payments by about $55 every month.
$55 it's a lot and I don't mean that as in individual payments but for the total of the loan.

How many months did you finance it for?

I live in the City

For me I'm only interested on the powertrain because I plan on getting a 2014 and keeping it long term. I'm capable of doing some of the wrenching so replacing and alternator, starter, brakes things like that are not an issue and expected.

I'm really jealous of the 07-09 that came with lifetime powertrain. Yes you might have to invest 1000 total in 10 years to replace the faulty front suspension, wheel bearings and any other things that come up but having that lifetime powertrain it's amazing and I can't understand why people that have it get rid of it the patriot just because they had to spend a couple of hundred on some of the issues. Fix it with quality parts that have a warranty and drive that Patriot forever, knowing that they will always throw in an engine or a CVT if it goes out

Most trannies can be rebuilt for $1,800 to $2,200. The CVT sounds like a different animal.

The additional worry for today's cars, in my opinion, are the electronics and especially the computer control modules. They can and do go out regardless of the care given to the vehicle and I read horror stories of replacement costing upwards of $2,000. This is not a DIY repair in most cases.

I am considering an extended warranty for this reason.....the electronics.

I have only looked at the online Chrysler warranties. But, I keep hearing stories that you can dicker dealers down a huge amount on them.

The electronics and Tranny are the main reasons i got the lifetime warranty, even though it is expensive. Looking back, I probably would have gone with just the extended one instead of the life time.

While the modules can be expensive they are easy to replace and it's a DIY job. I also find that dealers love to throw around new abs and ecu controlers all the time at the first signed of anything. Read on this forum and other car forums and dealers love to replace the modules because they make a lot of money one it and it takes minutes just to get it done.

Invest in a good scanner $200 that reads abs and Chrysler specific codes and it will pay for itself on the long run

Electronics I'm not worried about the transmission in the other hand scares the hell of out of me. The dealers basically replace it with a rebuild from Jatco so why are they charging the same price for a brand new transmission.

If Jatco wants to push the CVT why can they have some kind of program where they let reputable tranny shops replace for a rebuild at a low cost.

Well, I got the lifetime max car bumper to bumper warranty with $100.00 deductible for $2195. I did well, and am glad I have it. The piece of mind is worth it.

WOW that's a great deal for the lifetime max car. Did you have to haggle to get that price?
Not really. I found some prices online, and went to the dealer, where I am friends with the owner, and he matched it.

I forget, I remember I they emailed me a quote, but I can't find it in my email now! chryslerwarranty.com was one, but they were a little higher than the one who emailed me. You should be able to go in and say "I can get it online for X." and they would likely match it.
