If you bring the old tires across the border, border police might get suspicious and ask about new tires.

Here are my thoughts. I tried selling my used SRA's for $150, and had no bites. 7 months later I tried again and sold them for $100 right away... it's nice money in my pocket. But if you can save $300 across the border, I say leave the old tires alone and let the tire shop dispose of them, especially if the tires are worn. I seriously doubt you'll recoup the savings from selling the tires

Just thinking back and yes I can say this - decades ago - While on a trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios, I had seen some Pep Boys ads and decided that it would worth my while to buy tires and just drive home "wearing" them. I had the good sense to buy them on the way there and was able to drive the "new" off of them before coming back across the border.

Adventure Is Out There!

Hello Everyone,

This is an adventure from the long weekend (in Canada).
Drove with a trailer to just north of Calgary. Bought my Konker and headed back to Saskatchewan.
My fuel mileage was on average about 24 mpg. Coming back from Calgary I reached 29 mpg with the trailer loaded up.
All around it was about 16 hour trip. First time ever pulling a trailer and it did fine. Actually just hooked up the wiring harness the night before we left.

Enjoy a picture :)

Confirmed my order with http://www.1010tire.com for new tires.
Getting 4 Yokohama Geolanders AT-S 225/70R17.
1010tire expressed their concern with me buying larger tires than stock but customer is always right so they went ahead with my permission.

Have to install my lift before the end of the month because my resources are being restricted to me. I hope my tires come before or at the same time. The Patriot does look pretty strange with the stock tires and a lift.

Keeping this thread updated with pictures when events go down.

how the heck do you get 24-29mpg on an FD2 even without a loaded trailer???
I'm getting 19-20mpg with mine empty even before I put aggressive tires on.
Are you talking gallons or liters ?

Uk gallon*. Also from Calgary I believe it is downhill. The bike only weighs 300 pounds so it wasn't too loaded. But most importantly is the uk gallons.

Lift and the bigger Yoko's! Nice, very nice. You will want the spacers I'm guessing. The only reason I didn't get the size of tire you are is because I wasn't big on the idea of spacers. I ended up needing spacers anyways, so now I wish I had the larger tire. At the time, they were only $2 or $3 more per tire

Still waiting on my tires. I was really hoping to not use spacers but the lift brings the tires in so much my splash guards don't line up with the tires anymore haha.

Might have to go with different rims maybe.

So we had the shock one way but the coil was bowing toward the tire and was making contact with the tire. The passenger side was fine with clearing the tire and the whole shock looked straight so we turned the driver strut around and it didn't bow anymore but the coil was in contact with the bottom of the control arm. It won't be a problem with compression but with the shock extending I can forsee the coil pushing up on the control arm.

Yeah those stock rims are a killer to match a decent size tire to. Try a zero offset rim and a p225-235. They stick out just enough to get your tires away from the spring guard but they don't really stick out past the fenders

The strut and spring must be in backwards, the coil shouldent be close to the control arm

Yeah my Coil was touching my my tire... SO the "right" way was not working at all.
It was just the coil that was bowed.

Up and Up

Lift finally installed with my big tires! Still have the rear shocks the "wrong" way. But they now clear the control arm just barely so I guess for now it is fine.

An issue with the lift is that the front of my vehicle shakes under early acceleration. From reading on here I figure it is just the cv joints getting accustomed to their new angle.

Today I finally got to see my Jeep with the tires on and got to drive it. Tire noise seems minimum. They do rub on the plastic the covers the pinch weld at the back of the front wheel well. But only at full lock. Everywhere else they seem to clear just fine.
Took some pictures next to things to see the difference, not the greatest pictures I am guessing because they were taken at night. Enjoy.

The smallest Patriot available. (Height wise)

Wrangler

Compass

Going way North this weekend and some of next week. I will try and get it washed tomorrow and get some nicer pictures for you all.
