After a month and a half of looking at new and used cars, I signed papers this afternoon on a ............. 2014 Jeep Patriot Latitude......FWD, True Blue, and 2.4L........I should take delivery of it Thursday.

I had about 6 months to replace our ailing short wheelbase '05 Caravan with 2.5L engine. That was the most versatile vehicle around. Cavernous interior for bicycles, model train stuff, grand kids, etc.. Small footprint, easy to drive.

We needed higher seats for easy wife access (car injury health issues).

NO, I repeat, No vehicle appealed to me.....called out to me as perfect. New minivans are bloated. SUV's are ugly, fashion statements.

The final list was Patriot, Forester, CRV. We bought our new Patriot FWD Sport, 2.4L about a month ago.

My wife repeatedly tells me how much she loves it! Not nearly as versatile as the old Caravan. But, she's happy = I'm happy. I'm even getting used to the Winter Chill (her choice). She/we are minimalists with modest budget. She actually hated all the bells and whistles of the CRV.

After past rust problems, I will probably get this one Krown'ed. I am still on the fence about an extended warranty.

Best of luck with your new Pat! We enjoy driving ours. The 6 speed won me over.

Well im sure you'll have plenty of chances to drive it. So I assume you liked the new 6 speed better than the CVT?
Well lets just say I was leery of the CVT because of the reviews I have read and because I have a co-worker that had to have hers replaced after 2 years.......love the concept of the CVT and would not mind having one.....testing driving the 2 I did feel like the CVT had a whine to it.........I liked not feeling the shifts BUT think I will be happy with the 6 speed auto.

Well getting to pick up the patriot today!!! I am excited....I have not told my wife that it is here so she will be suprised when you she get home and sees it in the driveway....the dealershop is about 30 miles from the house so I will get some seat time before she does :).......I will post pics when I can even though ya'll know what a patriot looks like LOL.

Congrats! The blue was my first choice, but I ended up with red. Every time I have bought a new car in the last 30 years I keep trying to get a blue one, but end up with red or grey. Maybe next time. Nice choice! Did she leave a bruise? Bet she was smiling when she punched you though!

It is a beauty! Glad she is happy. Our Patriot is the first vehicle we have ever actually argued over who gets to drive. Like a few forum members, if the economy improves there is a second Patriot in our future.
