there were few discussion about patriot skid at other headers, but may be we can exploere the options in general discussions. As i understand correctly, FD1 has plastic skid just to protect the oil pan from dirt not rocks. And FD2 has real metal skid plate.

Anybody knows about the upgrade to metal skid plate from plastic? If you have metal skid plate can you please post pictures? Thanks.:smiley_thumbs_up:

As far as I can determine (and I stand to be corrected as this is second hand info) the metal skid plate is part number 5116372ac -supercedes AB. The cost is supposed to be 83.35

I tried that part number at wholesalemopar.com and nothing came up. Boy I hope there is some way of getting skid plates for an FDI.

CALL YOUR DEALER!!!

not every part number will come up on these websites....what is it with everyone? you check some website and the number you're looking for isn't there and its like "oh where will i find it?" where did you find it BEFORE the internet??????

I was talking to a guy who operates his own body repair shop and he was complaining about the same thing. He said he has a computer program he uses which originally came with part numbers and then, a couple of months later, when he brings up a part to be ordered, he is told that isn't the right part number any more. He contacted the company he deals with and they sent him a long list of new part numbers which he had to manually install on his computer. He was totally peed off by having to go through this process. I imagine it is the same for someone with a website.

There a 3 plates in the front and another for the fuel tank. The part # given above is for the main belly pan but does not includes the tranny plate and a third unit. See the attached drawing from the parts manual for the numbers as they were originaly, It apprears that they may be slightly updated ie ab to ad

i found following info on other threads..can anyone check the facts on these info for skid plate. thanks.................

"Good price on the front skid plate from the dealer too, $83.35, part #5116 372AC (supersedes AB). We found the #5105 334AD and 5105 336AC for the gas tank but they are listed as "Heat Shields", $14.10 & $22.35 respectively. The gas tanks in these are a saddle shape that goes over the rear drive shaft."

all this site IS is a website for Lakeland Motors to sell parts to the public. it's NOT "MOPAR" itself, Chrysler LLC or any 'buy direct' from the factory place. just a dealer that has a website.

as for the part number not coming up on their site......probably because they DON'T STOCK IT. my guess is that only parts they have "IN STOCK" will show with the price they would sell it to you for. we have $1.3M in Mopar inventory and WE don't even stock it. a smaller dealer, such as Lakeland Motors, won't have it either, unless a customer had canceled an order and they were 'stuck' with it.

and remember, just because it says "wholesale" in the name, don't always believe it. shop around and see what you can get from your LOCAL dealer. if you find it cheaper 'online', see if your dealer is willing to 'price match'. by the time you figure in shipping and handling...you may be paying MORE for it 'online'! ;)

I checked the local dealer re skid plate part number #5116 372AC (supersedes AB)- They say that they have the same number for the plastic shield as for the front skid plate. I do not want to order what I already have. Can someone please clarify. Price here by the way was $129.00.

Also I want to order the front tow hooks and have part numbers for them but dealer says that I have to replace the steel bumper- Does anyone know if this is correct??
