Just took my Patriot 4X4 up to snowy Lake Tahoe, and it did just great. There were many, many Jeeps in the area, including Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, Libertys, and Commanders, but not a Patriot in sight. In fact, I've never seen another one on the road. Can anyone explain why not?

Here in South Wisconsin, I see one or 2 a day if I'm out and about. I even saw a Surf Blue one yesterday.

I think Chrysler/Jeep spnding hardly anything on advertising or trying to "push" the car has a lot to do with it. You would be surprised how many people don't even know what a Jeep Patriot is.

Why?

Well, they have just so many advertising dollars to spend and they make a lot more money on every Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, or Commander that they sell than on the low margin Patriot or Compass.

I stopped at my dealer last month for a test drive. I wanted to drive a Limited with automatic, but the only thing he had was a Sport with a manual. I went there again yesterday, hoping something had come in. He didn't have a single Patriot, and only one Compass. If you don't have them on the lot, you can't sell them.

That is so funny. I wanted to try a sport, manual and all I could find were Limited automatics. I finally had to go on line to the site and find one at a dealer, go there, almost 50 miles away to test drive the manual transmission. Even then, it was a Limited with a 5 speed. I would think that is a rare bird. All the high end options, but a manual transmission.

Its a sad story, isn't it? nobody knows what they are because they aren't advertised. Most people see one passing by and probably just mistake it for a Liberty or something at first glance. And simply it's a new thing as BrianP said, I mean most people aren't buying cars every year.

I have to agree. When it comes to marketing this vehicle, Chrysler really dropped the ball. A couple weeks ago I mentioned the Patriot to a guy at work who drives a Cherokee, and he had no clue what a Patriot was. He'd never heard of it.

Every month I get Adventure magazine by Nat'l Geographic; it is chock full of SUV ads... but none for the Patriot.

If there had been advertising of this car before it came out I could have saved myself buying my Chevy HHR. I did look at the Caliber but, you know, it's only a Dodge. I had no idea there would ever be a Jeep the would get mileage in the high 20's.(or more) This has never been a priority for Jeep in the past.

Do they fear they can't meet demand if they advertise?

It has been a real loss of identity driving that Chevrolet. I'm a Jeep guy and I hate driving anything else.

I have had mine 10 weeks.

The first 8 weeks I saw maybe 2 or 3 Pats on the road.

The last two weeks I have seen 1 to 3 each day.

The Pats are selling themselves as Jeep as not advertised them nor does the dealer push them.

I am seeing 1 to 3 Pats a day now. Much better than in the fall of last year. The salesman who sold me our Patriot, said they are now moving a Patriot a week out of their showroom. I am surprised by the number of stone white Patriots I am seeing. [shrug] Oh well, so much for staying unique.

I see one every week or two, I don't think they will really push the patriot until the fall when the new interiors make there debut. They don't want to turn anyone off with the less then impressive version when the new and improved version just around the corner.

when i first bought mine i hardly ever saw them. now i'm seeing them more and more. they're just slowly increasing in popularity ;)

I have seen several here in portland, not many different color ones, mostly just black, blue or green. but my jeep dealer always has atleast a dozen of them on the lot. good luck finding a manual one though, i had to have them drive one down from 500 miles away.

Until a few months ago I only saw one every couple of days. Now I usually see one every day. They are selling but should sell more. There is almost no advertising. ????

There aren't that many Pats around Manitoba. But I have seen a noticeable increase the past few months. Up to a few months ago I would see a Compass maybe once a day and I could go for a week or two without seeing a single Pat. Now I see two or three a week. Though I might very well be seeing the same ones over and over again.
